As i say i will be parting with the 3500 system soon so best leave things alone?

I agree completely with Graham. Leave it alone. If this is just a temporary arrangement, messing about with the wiring will substantially reduce the value of your equipment. Disabling the RIAA in the 9500 really is a non starter unless you plan this to be long term and for you. Take out the pins and use Tape 2. You have to clean the record if you are recording anyway!

The RIAA does not exist in the 9500 as a discrete board that can be simply removed.

In the 3500 deck I believe the job can be done by cutting one leg only on C4 and one leg on C12. This should disable the op-amp. Now either connect the pins together as described by Peter or move the yellow wire from pin 7 to pin 6 in the plug.

You already know the simplest option, remove the pins and plug it into Tape 2!

thanks peter, i would still rather remove the riaa from the bc9500 as i also use the bg3500 with the rest of my 3500 system.

also i may be parting with the above once ive converted my lp's to mp'3

The datalink issue can be solved by simply connecting pins 6 and 7 together.

Look at page 2-2 of the service manual - it shows you PCB 4 and the relevant wiring points. Compare that with the non RIAA wiring and it is simply a case of moving wires.

Don't forget that when you bypass or disable the riaa in the deck, you will need to change the datalink from pin 7 to pin 6 in the plug!

hi i need some help? i have a beocenter 9500 and a beogram 3500 but when i connect them i get a loud disstorted noise but when i connect it into the tp2 i get no sound (display switches to phono).

if i remove the two datalink pins and try it on tp2 it works great?

so i need to know how to remove or turn off the riaa in the 9500 (as this also has one built in) so i can connect the 3500 to the phono input.
