I do not have a Beolit to try...

As you questioned -Can anyone tell us what the buttons/knobs are? Are they solid or plated or???

I have used NEVR-DULL with great success in situations like this, but until we know the makeup of the material, I wouldn't be too aggressive.

Tarnished beolit 1000 buttons

Hello Comrades

I have a lovely beolit 1000 radio with oak covers, in excellent condition......

The alloy (?) buttons however are quite tarnished and I appear unable to make much progress on cleaning them up. I have tried 'silvo', methylated spirits and 'metal polish' and nothing really brought them up to clean looking. The metal polish probably did the best job- under bright light they look clean, but then in normal light conditions they look quite tarnished again.

Any advice? Someone out there must have had a similar problem?

I even asked Lee.. but he has a perfect example of a beolit (as if he'd have anything else ). He did suggest a jewellery cleaning cloth, but thought I'd check with other beolit owners first. I gather the alloy buttons do tarnish over time?

Regards

David Coyne
