I received the belts Martin sent me earlier this week but did not have a chance to install them until today. The difference between the LP Gear servo belt and Martin's is astounding! And the TT works smooth as silk again. Thanks Martin!! I hope that my experience with LP Gear is a singularity but if there are other complaints you might consider removing LP Gear from the "recommended sources" list.

To be completely honest, I do not recommend any firm supplying belts for B&O products. If you want a belt, always ask Martin first. He will have had the product and you will always get the correct item. He is somewhat reticent in advertising the fact that he can supply almost all belts but Chris and I will always point you to him!

No, I agree that doesn't look right.
I'm sure that small belt will put too much stress on the servo
motor spindle and/or the threaded shaft.
A new belt will, no doubt, be tighter than the old one but the belt in that photo looks too tight
and maybe even a little too thick.

I couldn't help noticing that LPgear charges quite different prices
for belts that are in fact identical, like the Beogram 5005/6500 servo motor belt
and some of the older round types.
They don't mention which version of Beogram 1500 their belt will fit and that
goes for the Beogram 6000 as well.
That is one strange company, I sit back with a feeling that they don't
know what they are talking about and I'm sorry if Beoworld is actually recommending them.

Hey, they will even sell you a belt for a Beogram 1201 !
A model name that never existed. Wonder what you would receive...
Could be fun to order one.

Anyway, I can supply a suitable belt if you need, even a set with both belts.
Tested in real Beograms for years.

Beogram 4004 Servo Belt

Wonderful board, good info, been reading posts since I acquired a used 4004 last September. Read about the horrors of sending these through the mail and winding up with wood chips and shrapnel so I was lucky that the seller knew how to pack. But I'm off on a tangent. A few weeks ago my 4004 would not move the tonearm after initially setting it down on the record. I opened it up (thanks to board members that showed how to do this!) and noticed that for the fine motion needed to move the tonarm, the servo was turning but the belt was not. Easy fix - just get a new belt. I checked on the board and fornd that LP Gear was a recommended source for the belt. I ordered one and about a week later it showed up.

Finally to my question. The replacement looks much smaller than the original one. I read elsewhere on the board that belt diameters are not readily known so I have attached a picture of the two. Is this the correct size? The new one fits tautly on the pulley and needed to be stretched somewhat to fit over the servo motor. With the new belt the tonearm transport is rather noisy. Does it take some time to wear in? I have also attached a picture of the drvie mechanism.
