Connect it to the LINE input on the back of the 4000's. I did it with my mac, same thing. Pitfall is that Ipod's do not have very good sound quality when compared to B&O units.

In summary you don't actually need anything more than an RCA to 3.5mm jack cable, if all you want to do is listen to the ipod through the Beolabs

You can plug it in perfectly fine, so long as the speakers are switched off while you plug it in!

I used this setup (Apple Universal Dock + iPod Touch + BL3) for a while and it wored quite well.With the Apple remote you can do basic control.

Please do not plug the Beolabs directly to the headphone jack - you get ugly noise each time you plug/unplug it.

If you want to connect an iPod or iPhone you need to have the Apple Universal Dock with the remote control and the Apple AV cable, besides the special cable. The headphone socket of your iPod or iPhone should be connected to the Apple AV cable, and to the special cable. Now the special cable should be connected to the Line socket* of your Bang & Olufsen speaker

I did not go direct to speaker but went direct through the AUX in of my Beosound. I wasn't too impressed, I don't think the earphone jack is up to par. Among the sound quality the signal was weak. I would recommend looking at docks since those connect through the universal connector.

One word of warning, adjusting the volume might be a pain with some beolabs as the Ipod volume adjustment is not sensitive enough. I would recommend to try that out.

Have anyone tried connecting i pod to beolab 4000??,6000???,8000??? direct with no beosystem???

Photos will be appreciated if you have it,i made few enquiries to B&O/dealers and led to believe i can connect i pod with specially adapted cables straight to bl4000 with no another beomaster??!!!

In 2004 I saw that same set-up in the Rodeo Drive store in Beverly Hills. A small IPOD docked in between two BL 4000 speakers on a lighted shelf. I may even a photos of it, as it gained a great deal of attention at the store party held that evening.

I asked the manager how this system worked, and he replied thai the IPOD docking station was connected to another Beomaster in the store. He demonstrated it using a Beo 4 remote, with minimal controls obviously ( On-Off & Volume up and down ). Similar to Beosound 6 plugged into the A.AUX a Beosound 1. Plug and Play, but no scrolling.

I am thinking of getting beolab4000 for i pod any comments???,since b&o do not have docking station!!,seen "bose" one very nice but not for me!!
