As I mentioned, I've owned this set between 1986 and 1993 before it (and lots of other B&O stuff from my parents in the house) was stolen during a holiday.

So I have to try to remember how I did this.

As I remember there was the CDX-2 and the CD3300 at that time. The CD3300 had a datalinkconnector.

So I copied this to the CDX-2, searching through the schematics of both cd-players.

And I didn't have a recordplayer so I bypassed the RIAA amplifier in the BM2000 (downgraded 3000). The CDX-2 responded to the Phono instructie of my 3000 terminal. But as I can remember there is a difference between the datalink from a Tape-input and a Phono-input.

The tape connector has pin 7 for data (and pin 6 is ground) as the phono uses pin 6 for datalink (and pin 7 for ground).

Despite the lack of the hardware (inside) the CDX-2, the up was capable of handling the data-instructions.

You're right Chris,

I coudn't remember the right name for the remote. It was indeed the 3000 terminal I had.

I upgraded my 2000 to the level of a 3000. I build a ir-transceiver according to the 3000 manual myself and placed the loudness switch, which the 2000 didn't have.

But it is already almost 20 years ago I did this, so sorry for the wrong info.

It was the same for my CDX-2 at that time, which I supplied with it's own datalinkcable. Then I could control the CDX-2 with the 3000 remote.

But the BM 5500 I purchased costed my only a 100 euro's. So the prize difference between a remote or another BM is arguble (wrong spelling?) You could sell the BM5000?

The Beosystem 5000 as yours could be contolled with the MCP5000 panel or the same remote as used for the beomaster 2000/3000. The MCP30 is remember.

Not true I'm afraid - the terminal 3000 (which I'm assuming you describe as MCP30) may look the same as the terminal 5000 but the codes are different so won't work. The beomaster 2000 doesn't support remote in any case. The only realistic options are:-

1, to obtain a MCP5000,

2, or a terminal 5000,

3, try & source a converter to allow the use of a beolink 1000 (very unlikely to find one) or,

4, as mentioned, replace the beomaster with a 5500 which sort of defeats the original question and will be the most expensive option - but you will be able to connect & control all of your other 5000 components via it.

My advice would be to look out for a terminal 5000 which isn't the most common item but do appear on ebay fairly regularly. The easiest option is to get a MCP 5000 due to the number out there but these aren't the most covenient of remotes for every day use and are really only any use as a table top programming device.

The other way is the rare IR control kit which changes the codes to be used with a Beolink 1000.

No, sorry, it will not work.

The beosystem 5500 was the first system which could be used with the beolink 1000 (new ir-codes).

So, the MCP 5500 are based on those codes.

The Beosystem 5000 as yours could be contolled with the MCP5000 panel or the same remote as used for the beomaster 2000/3000. The MCP30 is remember.

An option is to swap the Beomaster 5000 for a BM 5500 version. I did this at my sister's place.

So now she can control the system with her beolink 1000.

An MCP5500 will not work at all. The only remotes with any use with a Beomaster 5000 will be MCP5000 and Terminal 5000 (NOT Beolink 5000!).

I have a BeoMaster 5000 stack system comprising of a Beomaster 5000, BeoGram 5000, BeoCord 5000 & a BeoGram CD50.

Can I use a Master Control Panel 5500 to control all of the items in the stack via the BeoMaster 5000 Tuner Amplifier?

If I can will all the features of the system be controlled?
