From what I hear/have read, the new speakers are only a few decibels off, and if not adjusted, adds a tad more bass. I don't really think its necessary to adjust them, but some others may disagree. Regardless, the replacement drivers come with instructions on how to do so if you want to.

Re: Flash your B&O!

Søren Mexico:

elms:

I have a Rotel RSP-1068 surround preamp/processor sending signals via line in. My setup is a 4.1 surround sound (Weird I know). 6ks up front, 4ks in the rear, and a B&W sub. The Rotel filters out the center channel and splits it between the 6ks. My TV is not very center channel friendly seeing as the stand is low and the whole length of the tv. I find that the 6000s imaging is good enough (for now) to mimic a center channel. I haven't missed one at all.

As for comparing the 4000s to the 6000s... I think the 4000s are a LOT more musical than the 6000s. Any music sounds great on both, but the 4000s definitely sound more full and really do a great job of disappearing in the room. As for movies, I definitely prefer the 6000s as fronts. They are a lot more intense and direct. I also think they do a better job of creating a soundstage where you can pinpoint specific locations of sounds (great for movies). IMO I think the 6000s are the most beo-sounding of the pair, I don't know why, but I can tell they are B&O just by listening.

A word of caution if you are buying used 6000s: the rubber surrounds on the drivers crack and wear out after about 6-10 years, and the speakers sound like CRAP. It costs a couple hundred bucks to order new drivers from B&O (there is a thread on it with part #s somewhere here). DON'T order new rubber surrounds online, as I hear they are stiffer and really make the speaker sound a lot more shallow (these guys need to be free, they move a LOT).

Thats a pretty cool way of setting up the surround sound. I had that problem with my 6000s that the drivers cracked, but they were a bargain anyway so i cant complain, so ive just got the rubber rings on at the moment, they are almost as good as the original ones but as the rubber was harder it took ages for the new surrounds to run in properly. at the same time i put new dampening foam inside as the foam inside had deteriorated and was just dissolved when you touched it. Once i have some more money i shall treat myself in getting brand new drivers from b&o. When you fitted them did you have to have them calibrated with the amps or did you do it yourself, or did you do it at all?

They definately do have the best soundstage as movies come to life with them.
