i had a complete beosystem 4500 incl. beolink 1000, 5000, 7000. unfortunaly i sold it and buyed a new beosound 9000 incl. beo 4 remote... the beolink 5000 was always my favorite. because the remote was handy, two-way communication and the design with the transparent display was excellent. the point is that the beolink 5000 was a bit fragile and not so robust like a beolink 1000 and beo 4 in daily using.

Ever try and program an old school version of the BL3500 without a BL1000? Yeah, good luck with that.

I like mine and keep it on my desk. Works like a champ. Easy to take apart and clean, too.

Worst B&O product I've ever had is that stupid keychain. Every couple of years I pull it out and use it for a week and then go "oh yeah, now I remember" and toss it back in the drawer.

Oh, and I think that the worst piece of B&O is those japaneese beocenters (2100, 2200 and 4000) and in particular the x-series of speakers that fit the tuner. horrible!

Opposite, B&O has designed pretty clever stuff. the tangential record players, fingertouch, 2-way remote communication, great design and electronic control well before the rivals.

I love the Beolink 1000, i have had 4 and all of them could survive everything! Sadly, we sold our old beovisions (2 LX2502 and an LX2802-N, great picture on all of them), so now I only have one BL1000 left to control my Beosystem 5500.

Well, I don't use it daily, the MCP5500 is easier to use in my opinion.

On most Beovisions, this is impossible! There are not any volume or channel controls on the set.

My least favourite remote was always the Beolink 5000 (I don't count the Beo1 as it is so useless as to hardly qualifying as a remote! ). The 5000 promised so much but is one of only a few B&O products where you need to read the manual! The 7000 managed to be far easier to use.

I agree that BL1000 and Beo4 are a bit "tall," but I think both are great remotes. I own several of each.

I just can't get over how many of you hate the Beo1. I actually own a Beo1, and use it for a purpose for which it was not originally intended. I think it's great. Compare to the Apple Remote used for the Ipod, AppleTV, and Imacs which many have described as brilliant, and you get why I'm puzzled.

The Beo1 for simple navigation is a really cool product. I never liked the BL5000 and I never got the opportunity to buy a BL7000.

My vote for worst B&O product goes not to a remote control, not even the delicate 5000 (owned one of those too, for my ex 2-way 9500), but to...

Beolink Wireless.

DVD1's are fine when they don't have the picture freeze problem. B&O integration worth a lot but they were (along with the V8000) vastly overpriced.

Beolink 1000 is better for teletext functions on earlier TV's. It also has the advantage of been able to toggle between audio and video volume and mute control without using the source buttons. I really miss that with the beo4.

The 1000 is by far the better back scratcher.

I vote Beo1 (though I have never used one), it just seemed impractical. For those product(s) which I have used: Beolink 5000.

Any votes for the DVD1?

Thanks Peter, the B&O dealer here said that the BL5000 is no longer available, so they sent me the BL1000. I guess it's too late now. Bit of a shame really. I really really liked the 5000. :( Why did they have to steal it, i do not know

Jonathon, i have no idea how much it's worth, but it's brand new, and i don't have a use for it with my B&o gear... and i haven't tried to use it as a mallet yet either!

The BeoLink 5000 was a cool remote when it worked properly. The problem was that they were very fragile and the LCD display was prone to problems. The Beo4 was a nice replacement because of greater durability, but the loss of 2-way control was a downgrade to yesteryear technology. I still have my BeoLink 7000, but after replacing its board, not all the functions work as it once did.
