Once again if this helps I have given the exact type and numbers on the rectangular paper sticker stuck to the rear of my Beocenter 3500 purchased in either 06 or 07 1975.

NR3500 TYPE2401

No 875020 SIGN P3 n.b.; CP and P3 are stamps. Quality control checks?

It is basically correct what has been said here but please note that (at least some) Beocenter 3500's
have 110 Volt turntable motors even in Beocenters set for 220V !
I don't remember exactly how it's done but not all BM3000 transformers may be suitable.
Finding one from a Beocenter 3500 shouldn't be too hard as this was also a quite popular unit
and there are still many around.

Thanks for the offer. I will definitely take you up on your kind offer should this prove to be the case. As for breaking out into sweats, re ancient Greek, I had a recurrent dream about Finals revision or the lack of it , for decades afterwards. Products are less sensitive and more repairable, at least in this case I hope. In any case both involve a classic. Alcibiades as a log-in would have been courting disaster. Probably would have attracted more hits though.

Interesting log in - I confess the very thought of translating the History of the Peloponnesian War still makes me sweat! And that was a long time ago!

Thanks for that. I did see a Beomaster 3000 advertised for spares untested on E-Bay but didn't know if my 1975 model bEOCENTER 3500 was based upon the Beomaster 3000-2 which was on sale concurrently. According to the web pages quite a few modifications had occurred with this later model. I did e-mail the seller who didn't know either.Within reason, it is not an economic question of restoration, but one of sentimental attachment, as it is pristine cosmetically,and was a faithfull servant. Furthermore, I do have the stylii you praise, and being biased I still consider these products quality to be unsurpassed aesthetically. Regards. TIM.

Parts for this are relatively easy to find as this really is a Beomaster 3000 and Beogram 3000 combined. There are a few trim pieces that are unique obviously, but the innards are pretty standard - as can be seen by the fact that the Beogram actually has a flying DIN lead that plugs in the back! Both the Beocenter 3500 and Beomaster 3000 were big sellers so there are a lot of donor units around. Very well worth getting fixed - did you see the Hi-Fi World article on the BC3500? Written by Tim Jarman of Beocentral, the 3500 is one of his favourites. They do not have a huge value these days so bear that in mind when it comes to repairs. It can be cheaper to start again! With an SP12 cartridge, this is a fantastic system to play vinyl on. Dare I say, rather better than many of the later units!

The Beocenter 3500 is a lovely machine, built like a tank.
A mouse may be able to enter the Beocenter somehow but how it can
get to chew on the mains transformer is hard to understand since the
transformer is cast into a very sturdy metal cabinet within the Beocenter.
Hard to access even by humans.
Are you sure that it is the mains transformer you need ?

Hello,.

Just joined Beoworld. Have owned B.O. products since 09.1974. I bought the above new in 07.1975. I had to store it in my loft, in its original packaging. Imagine my horror and consternation when shown by our local expert boffin the disastrous damage done to the innards by field mice notably the shellac-coated mains transformer. Having now retired and discovered a world of B.O. enthusiasts, and that Jensen classics are cherished, I was directed towards Beoworld by Lee, at Lifestyle A.V. He was confident that someone, somewhere, would have the requisite knowledge and/or access to parts to make my 3500 live again. For ignoring my repair man's suggestion, you guessed it, I could not, and would not junk it. Now that I have joined the 21st Century I bought a Beomaster 2600 together with a Beogram 1700 on E-Bay . The seller turned out to be an expert electronics repair man who owns and has restored literally 100's of radios dating back to the 1930's. He has kindly offered to do this for me and was amazed that the voracious rural mice had not been deterred by the shellac coating. As yet he has not collected or examined my treasured product, this he will do next week. Therefore, I have posted this with the hope/prayer, not to be sacriligious, that advice and pointers towards the right direction might result. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
