Thanks. I was feeling a tad lonely and somewhat abandoned after being away for a tad to only find myself and a guest on line. This site is usually populated 24 hours a day due to its international appeal. London may be sleeping but we are having afternoon tea in Hong Kong while me mate Elephant/Ed~209 is off in a Melbourne pub drinking something else. ;)

You have to be a little careful about the "Number of Members On-Line" because this is updated by a batch job which I have got currently set to run every 2 minutes on the server. So, its not a real time view of the situation, its a snapshot every 2 minutes and if the Beoworld server has a heavy load, the running of the batch job will be deferred for a further 2 minutes.

The bottom line is that the "Number of Members On-Line" figure may not reflect the actual number of users on-line at that time under heavy load conditions.

Anyone who gets involved with repeated postings and sometimes checking who's on line (eg 'wedthred' on Wednesday evenings) will note that the server sometimes seems to stop recording who is on line or has some sort of reset. In this situation lots of people know they are on line but the system doesn't show it correctly. Then, over the next 20 minutes or so, everyone will progressively reappear in the who's-on-line window if they are still active on the forum.
