Absolutely agree- the beauty with the Detoma power amp is that it simply accepts one powerlink input. Therefore suited to powering one pair of passives, which the original question concerned (one pair of Bose). I had TERRIBLE trouble with an MCL2P I tried - horrendous pop as it was activated via powerlink. Yuk.

The AV9000 has powerlink outputs - a MCL2P would act as a reasonable power amplifier for passive speakers - you would need one for the front speakers and one for the rears. To be fair, almost any power amplifier will do but you will then have to be clever with the wiring.

Hi - The Detoma cost me about £300 or so a few years ago, so around that ballpark. I got it from my great chum Ian from MorethanAV. I don't know if he still stocks them or not. But you can buy it direct from the UK distributor - lauben.co.uk. As I say it's got powerlink input and can power a single pair of speakers. I put the powerlink cable in the back of my Beocenter 1 in the Dolby module bit. It powers an old pair of Eltax Liberty 3+ and hopefully, will soon be firing up a pair of Acoustic energy Aelite 3 floorstanders. I hope you manage to get a Detoma. It is brilliant!

I have a B&O Passive connecting a Cona and a pair of CX100's as rear speakers on my AV9000.

I am out of my depth with the AV9000 but with my set up the products come with a pre-amplifier built in which controls volume, bass treble etc. Therefore use the Beo4 or whatever remote you are using. All the Detoma does is the power amp business. Which is great as you just need the Beo4!

You'll need to check your AV9000 has a pre-amp module. I'm pretty sure it would have - needs confirmation from other experts.

You won't be disappointed with the Detoma if you go for it - it is SO much better than the MCL 2P I tried for a bit which looked like a brick (well it was supposed to be hidden..!!) and popped massively whenever the system powered up. The Detoma was built for yours and mine scenario in mind i.e. love B & O system but not too keen in the lower end speakers. I'd love to see the BL8000 redeveloped with some cunning bass reproduction and ALT for the treble. Anyway, hope you find out about the AV9000.

Hi you might also consider a Detoma A102 power amp which is incredibly sweet and also very stylish. It accepts a powerlink input and can power a set of passive speakers. I have one linked to my Beocenter 1 which powers a set of passive speakers and my BC1 is also fed by a BS3000. The detoma is available in the UK and I can not praise it higher. I found that with a budget of £1000 or so for second hand B & O speakers I was disappointed with the BL8000 so went the passive route and now enjoy the best of both worlds!!

Thanks, it just to connect outdoor Bose loudspeakers to the main system and I thought the Beosystem AV 9000 had an amplifier as there and two connections on the back with Audio Out written on it and standard non B&O switches.

No it's not possible. The AV9000 has no amplifier for this. Using a beolink passive you will get sound from passive speakers, but I guess if you want to use it in a pro-logic surround setup and passive speakers the best solution is to buy a surround amp.
