It got me thinking why the PS3 gives sound but not the ASUS (as they are both setup the same). So i googled my problem and their is a bug in the ASUS eee box range. Just downloaded the latest RealtekHD HDMI audio driver and hey presto - sound out of my TV :)

Many thanks for your help

btw - the asus eee box 206 looks like a nice little machine - lets see how it does as a home media centre

Re: PC connection to my 7-40 HD no sound

Perhaps you have to configure also the asus to 'send' the audio through HDMI (instead of SPDIF or analog). At the BV7 there is just to select the HDMI A/B/C/D and also select HDMI for sound.

You are right, HDMI supports both. I have a Western Digital TV HD live connected by (only) HDMI and got audio and video. (but the WD doesn't give digital audio through HDMI, only via Toslink SPDIF )

Re: PC connection to my 7-40 HD no sound

HI thanks for the idea - but i thought the idea of a HDMI cable is that is sends both video and audio

Re: PC connection to my 7-40 HD no sound

its important to use the analog input... chinchcable maybe and configure on AV4!

I just got an asus eee box 206 and connected to my 7-40 via a hdmi cable. The picture is working fine, but i get no sound though my tv ( im using the 7-2 speaker). I have setup the HDMI in the settings menu and selected use HDMI for sound connection, but no joy.

I have it connected to HDMI B (my PS3 is connected to HDMI A and i get sound no problem)

I have tried this so far with different sites and no music.

Any ideas? Maybe im missing somethiing obvious and cant wait till my local dealer opens tomorrow...
