Well, the type of antenna used should suit the input chosen.
That said, the tuner in this Beomaster is very sensitive so will probably
receive several stations with good quality on a few feet of wire connected to either input.

I'm glad I can use one of these. What abou the FM? Is there any difference whether I use the 75 or 300 ohm antennas?

Actually, one of the phono inputs are at line level and can be used as you would the Tape input.
If I remember correctly it's Phono 2.

You can connect an Ipod to both Tape and Phono 2, Phono 1 will not work because the is an Riaa amplifier on the input.

You can connect iPod or cd-player to the tape input. BM3000 has both RCA and DIN connectors and actually you can connect two devices at the same time, fe. iPod with RCA- and CD-player with DIN-connection. But it might cause lower volume levels if both are connected at the same time, but you can have an iPod cable (RCA->3,5mm plug) connected to the BM and use it only when needed.

If you have more devices you can buy an external selector box with more inputs and one output to the BM. I have a BM3000 too (just playing!), and a selector box to connect a CD-player, cassette deck, an Elcaset deck and my MacBook to the tape input!

Thanks for the gracious welcome. It's very comforting to know I can use the B&Ws. Next on my list is to get a pair of 2 pin din connectors, and maybe a 5 pin din to ipod and/or RCA. I imagine I will only be able to connect the ipod and cd to the tape input. Does that sound right? I would think the phono inputs would not work with those.

Welcome to Beoworld !
You can use 8 ohm speakers with the Beomaster 3000-2, no problem.
There will be a problem if you get below 4 ohms but that won't happen, even if you connect 4 pcs
of 8 ohms speakers.
The above goes for most (if not all) of the Beomasters.

Greetings. I just purchased a Beomaster 3000-2 to go with my Bowers and Wilkins 686s, but discovered they are a mismatch as far as the speaker resistance goes, with the receiver at 4 ohms, the B&W 686s at 8 ohms. My choices are to find a nice pair of 4 ohm speakers for the Beomaster, or to find an 8 ohm Beo. If I go the speaker route, what would you advise? Conversely, is there a Beo for 8 ohm speakers?
