I am not familiar at all with the site and their business. How does it compare to AVLifestyle advertised here?

For those that have had business with them, what are they like?

No comment on the reason for sale but I can back up Joeyboygolf's comments regarding warranties.

I have bought all my current B&O equipment used (one item from the dealer mentioned in this thread) and have had warranty work done on at least one item with no problem at all.

The repairer just takes the serial number and checks it out with B&O UK to make sure it's not nicked or grey. Of course, that may have changed since so you should really check it out yourself before laying out your cash.

I don't know where the warranty advice came from but dealers don't make a lot from warranty service so they may just say it's not possible. Use an independent repairer if you can - I've found Simon Harry at AVA Services in South London to be helpful but have not used him recently (020 8645 9150).

By the way, B&O UK have always been happy to check a serial number for me and confirm that it is not on their stolen list.

New BL9s. Mikey51 is on Ebay for many years so it is definitly not a scam. He also had a BV9 right when it came out. Not sure where this stuff is coming from, but I doubt highly highly it is from credit card scams. A dealer unloading inventory seems more likely, especially if it is not a B1 store. If a customer cancels to my knowledge they have to keep the product.

With many dealers feeling the pinch and B&O sending out more and more expensive products ( which they are forced to pay for) I rather suspect this is a deal;er offloading the stock. I know of a few dealers who would be happy to sell it with 2500 off.

Lets faceit for the franchisees its one hell of an investment to make and when the technolgy changes they have to make HUGE reductions to move it on. Question is - have they made that much money on the new technolgy at pricing that defies real market conditions to make up for the losses on older stock.

I suspect most dealers are doing a bit with bv7 , speakers, and the odd sale of a plasma product.

The franchise strategy works well for B&O but for the dealers I know for many life is tough

In all my time dealing in B&O, this has never once happened to me, nor have i heard of something like this happen. It's a first to me if it's true!

Most dealers would simply negotiate a deal on another more suitable product, or indeed give a full refund or a refund minus a some kind of re-stocking fee (which would be a heck of a lot less than £3500!!). My only other thought is that someone has bought it on a Credit or Virtuoso Card and is selling it with a mind not to pay the bill.. It happens.

Still, mine is not to question! Nice TV though - i love them!

Personally, I would contact the dealer (the BV9 was bought from) direct for further information and seek further confirmation in writing and not on the basis of the reseller that the warranty stands. Way too much money to be flippant about..

My guess would be that someone who can afford to pay x for a TV lives in a house/building which reflects this... so I would question the "size" explanation and ask questions.

Maybe he needs the cash?? or has found something else and its the only way of freing up money quickly? who knows?

I'm sorry to say that this is incorrect, the warranty is only valid to the original customer. Some dealers may choose to see through this and carry out a warranty claim on a product as long as it is in it covered period regardless of owner, but the fact remains a reseller cannot offer a product for sale stating it is covered by a B&O warranty and B&O are not obliged to repair it as such. This does not only apply to B&O, I bought a house which had a new oven fitted, it was installed in the house in order to sell it and so was brand new. However it did have a problem well inside the warranty period and they refused to repair it because I did not make the purchase in the first place, even though it was still in the same house. The manufacturers warranty only applies to the original owner but as I say some dealers will be more lenient than others. You are correct that B&O track there products by serial numbers but that will also bring up the registered owner, if that does not tally then the dealer is entitled to charge for the repair.

I would be very suprised if the customer could not have got a full refund from the dealer, but even if the dealer wanted to be akward the cusomer could have got more money back than selling it to Ian grace. If he is selling the BV9 for £2500 off, how much did he buy it for?On a seperate note I personally would not touch it without a warranty, the B&O warranty, strictly speaking, will be invalid once he sells it, so whoever buys the BV9 will have little or no support from there local dealer unless they pay for it.

Well normally a dealer would take the TV back I believe. I wouldn't be surprised if this is coming from an antsy dealer who has to get rid of it quick. Maybe just a canceled order. I mean somewhere must this grey market stuff come from , there are not many other options then a dealership ....
