Flappo, can we assume you keep buying Loewe tv's so you are entitled to say the same thing over and over? Because 4/5 years ago you told us already how you feel.

In my experience the build quality and picture quality were most defintely sub B&O.

The picture was a pixellated mess and the supposed chrome on the TV was actually plastic...eeeurgh..

You can always add stuff via Hdmi to a modern B&O tv ie; Apple Tv , Mac Mini , Sky Hd so I don't really think Loedwe have an upper hand in any way whatsoever anymore.

They've always struck me as a Bno wannabeee.

I would be amazed if Panasonic supplied their newest panels to 3rd parties even before they had sold it themselves. I would expect the BV12 to use a previous panel.

My experience with Loewe compared to B&O is that their is more disparity in their sets as with B&O : they are constantly changing the display behind the same sets. You can have a very nice picture quality, but you can also have a really low PQ if you weren't lucky enough.

A friend of mine bought an individual, and was VERY disapointed because he had a dark image, nothing comparable to the set in display at his shop... The technician came and said it was normal...

When you buy a B&O, you have a more constant PQ : what you've seen in the shop is generally what you get at home. But you will have some software issues with newly launched stuff...

The new Loewe Assist app for iPad is really good : you get a well-designed view of the TV schedule, and you can select to watch or record a program with the touch of a button. (I already have that with my BV8, but with a french set top box controlled by the Beo6, not internally)

Loewe has very nice and modern features. What I really miss from B&O most is an easy way to record or time shift.

But in my opinion the picture processing is not on same page as B&O. Some of my relatives have Loewe Individual LCDs and the difference between a SD and HD picture is very massive (comparing same program). On my B&O you hardly see a difference. For me it seems that B&O is capable to make a good picture even out of a not so good signal, while Loewe does not.

And you do not need to compare the inbuilt speakers. Loewe is much worse in this field.

I wouldn't even put loewe in the same league as B&O.

I had one , it was utter rubbish.

Indeed. Malock is french, so am I, and I think he meant list price of these items, the maximum public prices advised by the brands. There is no "legal price" here, the government don't rule the price of TV sets

I suspect it has something to do with the fact that TS originates from France. English is not his mothertongue. Legal prices translates as regular prices (prices do no differ a lot her in the EU), or prices for a non stolen TV.

Furtermore I cannot understand that Bayrische is unhappy with his BV10. I have one and I love it. The looks are amazing compared to any non-B&O tv and the picture quality is great with an HD-source like my Humax 5200c or even an Apple TV (at 720p).

Legal prices in France for a BV8-40 is 4.040€ (with Beo4, TNT-HD) when a Selection 40 cost 3.490€ (remote control ,TNT-HD, Cable-HD, antireflect glass and aluminium structure). Option are motorized floor stand, HD recorder, double or simple Sat module, a Network MediaPlayer).

Regarding the quality displayed when using MediaPlayer, the new version is now in HD with access to Youtube or Internet Radio. It has changed a few weeks ago.

The people who are using in France the satellite, as me for many month, have never faced any problems. And when CanalSat have changed is encryption, i only change or update my PCMCIA Card reader.

When you take about B&O reactivity, i think about all french people still waiting for their FreeBox STB/Puc... The universal remote control proposed by Loewe can be updated using a PC USB connection to control others brands.

For the Pip, it is true that Loewe, with their double tuners (TNT-HD, cable-HD or Sat-HD) gives possibility to have two pictures from the same source. I personally have two sat tuners (with a double exit "parabole") and can record one Sat channel and watching another Sat channel.

I'm really sorry for hijacking this thread for a moment. In the second line of this post there is the mention of "Legal prices". I have never seen this phrase before and I have no idea what it means or how its application. Any explanation from these forums would be great.

I would also knowing what I do now have gone the Loewe way.

Bought a BV10 about 1,5 years ago, it's OK, but not much more. Not worth the price.

I won't be changing TV for many years though.
