when the jack is held in only half way, both channels work ok (like a bad connection).

In that case you probably have the right-channel fed to both headphone channels (in mono). The left-channel is on the tip of the plug. Perhaps you could try to see with a lamp if there is something inside the socket? (Preventing the plug being pushed all the way in).

Re: Form 1 Headphones

First, confirm that your speakers are connected to speaker 1 outputs on the Beomaster; only those will be muted by inserting a headphone plug.

Anyway, it sounds like the headphone socket in your Beomaster may have been damaged. This happens easily if someone has yanked on the cable sometime in the past. It's possible that just a solder joint of the connector has let go off the circuit board. Easy fix if the connector itself is OK.

Form 1 Headphones

Hello All,

I've just received a pair of Form 1 headphones I got off ebay.

Upon plugging them into the front socket on my Beomaster 6500 I was immediately disappointed - when the jack is pushed in fully only the right channel works. It also doesnt mute my Penta's. I notice however, that when the jack is held in only half way, both channels work ok (like a bad connection).

I immediately wondered whether the headphone cable had a bad connection or something.

But then I tried the headphones in a MX4000 and in my laptop - and low and behold - they seem to work perfectly (if a bit bass light).

I therefore conclude the problem must be lying with my Beomaster 6500......?

But am i missing something really stupid or...? How can I get this sorted fella's?

Thanks for your help.

Michael
