I turned the power in and of a couple of 10 times.

ignored the pincode

The next day when I turned the power on, the bs9000 goes in standby.

DEAD...

Thanks sgresswell. I tried cleaning the lens's to no avail unfortunately.

Thanks for the information koning. Was your microprocessor problem
the result of a power cut/power surge?

Is it so difficult to have in-built protection against power surges
in electronic equipment? All the other electronic equipment in the house,
including 4 computers, is fine and that's all plugged directly into the mains.

How do I prevent this happening again given I already had a power surge
'protected' multi-socket adapter fitted to my B&O set-up? I won't necessarilly
be around/awake to unplug it.

Try cleaning the i.r. prisms (2 clear plastic bits under the glass), the aluminium and the glass inside & out. If they get dirty they can cause some very strange problems.

Possibly, but I don't know if that would result in everything
still working perfectly, albeit for only a few minutes at a time.

Everything is connected via a surge protection multi-socket adapter,
but I don't know how effective they are.

Thanks for your input.

I have tried putting the whole system in standby over night.
I have tried unplugging the whole system from the wall over night.
I have tried disconnecting the BeoSound 9000 from everything else for a few days.

None of these options is getting a positive result unfortunately.

Hmmm... I have the same setup.

I don't think that the pin code is the issue here??? It seems you did get it right and the BS9000 awoke.

My guess would be to keep it simple. Put everything in standby, remove power, reboot and input the code again.

Anyone else?

++++EDIT++++ I just re-read your post... It sounds like you did disconnect (does that mean from power?) the system? Just the 9000, or everything?

BeoSound 9000 problem

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can help?

I have a BeoSound 9000 connected to an Avant and speakers.

After a recent power cut I found myself having to re-enter
the pin code for the Beosound 9000. Unfortunately, due to
being a pillock, I didn't enter this correctly the first
2 or possibly 3 times.

I then checked the pin code and entered it correctly the
third time (I think) and everything seemed fine.

However the next day my set-up is starting up and functioning
as normal for a few minutes but then turning itself off, whether
it's on TV, radio or CD.

I'm not given the opportunity to re-enter the correct pin code
for the BeoSound 9000, even after leaving it in standby for
4 hours or disconnecting the whole system over night.

I should add:

If I disconnect the BeoSound 9000 the TV works as normal
and doesn't switch itself off.

When in standby the BeoSound 9000 makes an intermittent
clicking noise every few minutes (similar to the one it normally
makes when being switched on).

Any suggestions on how to fix this problem gratefully received.
