Agree totally - MCP's are only useful for the systems they were designed for and even then you wonuldn't use them on a daily basis. They look good on the coffee table though

I suggest a beo4 if you want something with a screen.

However a higher end logitech remote will also control B&O and anything else you want and will have a screen etc.

Forget the MCPs, they are only useful with the systems they were designed for.

Some odd functions might work but most will not, and after each and every keypress the MCP will be dead for a while showing you "NO CONTACT".

thanks all, most appreciated, on the off chance what would the mcp5000 or 5500 contol on my 9000 beocenter? i only really need cd play/stop/track skip and volume...would this do the job...

Have to agree with Mika.

I have all manner of B&O remotes but the one I always return to for controlling my 80's/90's equipment (or when I've had too many beers or I can't be bothered using my brain) is the trusty BL1000 - legendary bit of kit

Any of the later handheld remote controls will work - but BC9000 isn't two-way so such a remote (BL5000 or 7000) would be mostly wasted with it. You could get a Beo4, it is still a current model and can be used with just about any B&O kit since the late '80s.

But even if you do, don't get rid of the BL1000! It is still the most convenient choice for some setup operations, and many people will argue the best remote for everything

A Beo 4 will work perfectly well with your system as it uses the same codes as the BL 1000. Depending on the version there may be a couple of combinations on the buttons required to select certain things EG... Phono. If you don't have a modern B&O TV you want to use it with then the earliest versions with the AV button are easiest to use with a BC9000 & should be cheapest to buy used.

Thanks for the help on my previous CDR/RW issue, i have now managed to copy material onto a standard CDR and it plays back fine once the cd is 'finalised'

Anyway, onto another new query:

Hi all, just wondering if any of the more modern/nicer looking remotes will work with my 1989 9000 system? I have a 1000 remote which works well, just wanted something a bit 'cooler' more than anything...maybe something with a display etc...
