Will keep your offer in mind. Have to check how much shipping costs are!

Thanks again for your help, much appreciated!!!

By the way, have been in Denmark few months ago for my work and also visited Struer while I had the oppurtunity.

Sadly it was on a Sunday, so everything was closed but at least I've seen the factory

Some repairshops reject them altogether.
I've done many and yours are welcome here as well but I'm in Denmark
and depending on your location shipping back and forth could be expensive.

If the tray is very slow acting, the circuit may time out and the system gets confused. Taking the whole mech. assy apart, cleaning
and lubricating is the way forward in this case. Mark everything, especially the way the cogs grip into eachother, it will have to come
back together in exactly the same positions. Not the easiest task and definitely not recommended for the untrained.

Found 2 switches at the rear that can be reached without dismantling the CD unit. But they seem to be okay using a multimeter.

Also found one on the side near the "open" button. Unfortenately problem remains and I don't have the skills to open the whole unit.

Any other suggestions Martin or will it be a costfull repair bringing it to the dealer?

There are a couple of switches that are actuated by the sequence wheel under the CD drive.
They often oxidate, especially if not used for a long time, and they will need cleaning.
I like to take it apart and clean the discrete parts ultrasonically but the "kitchen table"-way is to soak a piece of
paper in contact cleaner, insert it between the closed contacts and slide it back and forth
a couple of times. Open contacts will need a gentle finger-help to close a little to sandwich the paper or a rotation
of the sequence wheel to close.
It can also happen that one of the leads that goes to the switches have come off. Not always obviousl since they
are sometimes also glued for stability but a gently and tiny pull (or measurement) will tell.

Since you're one of the experts here I really need your help or advice.

My Beogram CD50 player is acting strange! The CD drawer now continuously opens and closes. Even with or without putting in a CD disk (if I get the chance to put a CD in it).

Do you know what could be wrong?

Thanks in advance, Leslie

Re: CD6500

Samuk,

Probably the common laser circuit fault.
A fault that leads many repairers to believe that the laser itself has died and the player left irrepairable
where the truth in most cases is that the laser simply doesn't get enough electric current to function correctly.

Not enough current = not enough light.
Not enough light = not enough reflection from the CD disc.
Not enough reflection = presumably no disc present.
No disc present = standby when play is activated.

In the vast majority of cases, depending on the amount of degrading, it can be diagnosed by watching the laser diode
after activating play with a CD loaded. Look in from f.e. the side of the deck.
If the laser diode tries to focus on the disc (moves a few mm's towards - and away from the CD disc) but nothing
else happens, the laser is probably lacking power.

A fairly easy fix for a tech guy with the right knowledge.
And usually not particularly expensive in that the repair often is just a matter of
replacing a handful of capacitors. At least one of the capacitors needs to be of the correct value, specs and even
brand and type. Ready-made capacitor kits are available for some CD deck versions but it does take basic electronic
skills and tools to do the job.

Whatever you do - DON'T adjust anything.
Panic, desperation, trial and error etc. will not cure the thing, it will only increase the repair bill because of the
hours needed to get everything right again.
It's very tempting to raise the laser current. It may bring some kind of life back to the player but not for
very long (think minutes rather than years) and there's a huge risk that it will do irreversible damage to
the laser diode.
