You stated that it is a "Flicker" which manifests itself as a line anywhere on the screen.

Are you talking about a horizontal line and if so is it a scan line thinkness or wider ?

Re: wobbly old avant!

thanks Keith. It's a flicker rather than a wobble. Like I say I only saw it myself for the first time the other day and my mother says she doesn't think it's happened before although I suspect this isn't true! The flicker manifests itself as a line anywhere on the screen and as I say the picture is otherwise excellent, in some ways better than my real flat avant! Only other point I can emphasise is that it seems to happen after the telly has been on for a while and once it starts it don't stop!

Can you expand on flicker/wobble because for me flicker and wobble are very different symptoms.

Given you say that the picture is sharp and with good colour tends to mean its not one of the common power supply issues.

Can you provide a more detailed "Problem Statement" please

wobbly old avant!

Went to visit my mother yesterday and noticed the picture on her old curved screen avant has developed a flicker/wobble which looks a bit like a picture from a vcr with the tracking out. It seems to happen after the television has been on for a couple of hours and varies in position on the screen. Apart from this the picture is sharp and the colour is superb. I know these sets aren't worth much these days but does anyone have an idea if this is likely to be economically repairable

thanks for any help!
