Out of interest, I've gone back to 6.11 now and I have to say the picture quality is way better in HD and SD than in the newer 7.05. How can that happen????

Oh no :( I noticed this too. I thought it was me seeing things - there's a definite deterioration in picture quality since the upgrade to 7.05. I've fiddled with the sharpness settings and it's made no difference. In fact, at one stage I thought I was watching HD via Scart! I double-checked the HDMI connection.

It's that bad. It really does look like HD via Scart.

How on earth do B&O get this so wrong? I've had so many BV7-40 sw issues it's incredible.

Re: Your Questions for UK CEO?

moxxey:

I'd like you to ask him why B&O think it's acceptable to sell a £10K TV (BV7-40 MKIV) that could be argued is not 'fit for purpose' under UK law, which crashes watching Sky HD in a multi-room environment. Sky HD is embedded in millions of homes through the UK, so it's hardly uncommon.

B&O have had issues with the BV7-40 (III now IV) and Sky HD ever since I bought the MKIII in November 2007. We've had countless issues which seem to take 6 months to resolve. The latest issue has taken over 6 months with no sign of a sw fix in the near future.

How do B&O think this is acceptable? Why do B&O not offer an alternative TV as compensation - even temporarily - whilst they fix their own issues.

I'm close to considering legal action against B&O UK simply as they can't resolve their own issues. A crashing TV should be top priority. According to the B&O people I've talked to, it's not been taken seriously.

Moxxey - I completely agree with you on the BS3 system software. I was just going to say that B&O Reading looked after me extremely well providing a BV7 replacement whilst mine has been away. And their engineer Richard Watson is extremely good. They also rallied on my part to B&O UK which did achieve some results.

My dealer has gone out of their way at their own expense as B&O do not recompense them for time/travel to apply software updates which is frankly appauling and something that they should be taking up with B&O, especially while they continue to be unable to code or QA reliable software.

Out of interest, I've gone back to 6.11 now and I have to say the picture quality is way better in HD and SD than in the newer 7.05. How can that happen???? I also found that remote control of SKY on a linked TV stopped working when the master TV was in standby. They fix a bunch of bugs and then create new ones...Ggggesssh.

Are there any plans - official or not, tentatively or hard and fast - to make the Beosound 5 respond to the remote?

I mean, so that you from afar can use the screen to navigate your music? Using a telly for that makes the BS5 superfluous, imo.

Secondly, since the BS5 is hardwired, would it be possible to include a small headphone amp and plug (a 1/8th of an inch will do (minijack))?

If you don't think it would be feasible to get good enough sound in a very small package, the Cowon D2/D2+ proves that thesis wrong.

My third question which is also more of a request, is this: Do B&O have any plans, even tentatively, to make it possible to order the BS5 with antireflectory treatment?

You see, I have this thing with shining objects: I really don't like gloss, glistening and reflections.

My fourth and final request/question is whether or not B&O have any plans to make the BS5/BM5 able to control a FM and/or DAB tuner? Perhaps by controlling, say, the Beocenter 2 or some other tuner? It could even be a tuner connected to the BM5, as far as I'm concerned. It has to be a question of writing the firmware to support it.

Stephen Neale:

I read on the forum someone complaining
of B&O using lower grade materials on their products, is this true?
if so do B&O not feel they are giving their customers a
sub-standered product and service?,

I would like to know those things too. However, the question falls for the "negation test".

I
cannot imagine someone answering anything negative to that question. No
company would go "Well, yes, we DO use subpar hardware. We do this to
rip you, the customer, off".

It's all in good fun, though, so don't take my comment too seriously :)
