Do you use a ready master link cable with two ready end jacks, or have you used a junction box?

If you have made a split I would check so everything is OK in the junction box.

I believe you want option 6. It could be in whatever option causes it to ignore the Beo4.

Does anything happen if you touch the square on the display that says "Mute" on it. This should turn the speaker on/off.

Does it display the correct time?

If it doesn't display the time (it may take a minute or two for this to happen) and the "mute" square doesn't work, you most likely have a wiring problem (or a problem with the 3500 itself). If the time is showing and the mute square works, then it's probably the option programming.

I take it powers up?

If so it possibly needs setting up with a link option, someone will know exactly which one it should be.

can anyone help me with setting up a beosound 9000 with the beolab 3500 link speaker, all connections are secure but nothing happens, also the 3500 wont respond when i press radio or cd function on the beo 4 remote, ive have 2 3500s and ive tried both with the same results
