Apologies for the bounce and I do take the point of the comment however in my simple way i was just trying to widen the discussion after all one generates more idea's!

Possibly, and depends on the sound you like as speakers produce different sounds and moods. I have always been a fan of the BeoLab 4000s but I am always driven by the overall design of the final setup first, not the sound quality. Design and integration is key for me above all else. It has to look the part, not just sound the part.

What about the sound for the dinner table ?

the table is behind the speakers (and it's good not to spoil dinner watching TV!) but what about music? Are some speakers better than others for "all round" sound ... 360 degree dispersion of the sound waves ? Would BL 3s be the best "all rounder" ?

It comes down to how fussy you want to be with the end setup and whether you rethink or compromise. In that space you are always going to see the back of the TV. An audio system might suit better. If you must have the TV their then you'll have to start getting a bit more creative which could mean getting some interior designers in or rethinking it all yourself again.

You could put a partition up or maybe put a picture on the back of the TV such as an oil on canvas. Or, as a previous poster mentioned, you could use a table. The Bang and Olufsen cabinet made for that model TV springs to mind, or a lower one. However, there is no escaping seeing the back of it. Another option is to wall mount the TV and use B&O wireless technology for the sound.

Looking at that space I would be inclined to put the BeoSound 2500 in the middle, simply resting on the tiles without a stand. Trade in the existing speakers and get some BeoLab 4000s which you put vertically mounted either side. Alternatively you could trade in the BeoSound 2500 as well as the speakers and put a BeoSound 9000 their. The BeoLab 4000s could then be flipped to a horizontal position to match or you could use BeoLab 3s instead. Modern looking, works perfectly in the space, easy cabling solution and a good central location by the look of it, so easy to point remote and operate from anywhere around that space. Find a new place for the TV and wall mount.

I have a bv7-32 with a pair of bl3s.

Preference would be to have a bl7.1 (due to aesthetics and sound) but the gap the tv sits in is perfect for the panel but a few cm too narrow for the 7.1. I therefore went for the bl3 option.

They are set as main / centre speakers - with no other speakers in the set up.

Sound great to me - but can't really compare to the 6000s as I’ve only ever heard them in store and never at home - however, the set up works well for me

are you replacing them and the BS 3000 with a BeoCentre 2?

does your BV7-32 have a DVD player ?

I see the problem, and I think the solution is a long low cabinet that provides a platform for the BV and hides the power boards etc

But I wonder what else do we need to hide

What do you mean bounce bounce? I hate it when people do that - we've given you both the options and our opinion. What else are you looking for? If you're prepared to compromise on the sound, keep the 6000s.

Thanks guys - my problem is one of space - the bc2 is to sit on the plateau of the base - thus the 7-4 would not fit. the 7-1 would, but I would need to have a shelf under it to carry the sky box - problem as if the box is rear mounted the back of the tv is exposed to the dining area - would look scruffy imho - see pic of layout - perhaps this shows better my problem

I had this setup - temporarily - when I first bought my BV7-32 in 2004. No centre speaker, and just the two 6000s. Sound was poor - I quickly bought a 7.1 and, believe me, there was no looking back on that decision.

I'd consider a 7.4?

Well, you have to have a center speaker.

If you only have a pair of BL6000, they'll need to be configured as the "center speakers".

No, you can choose any speakers you like for it. If you want surround sound, then the 7-1 would be a good choice but other speakers could also be used too.
