Hi Glen, sorry didn't see this thread come in. Yes you are correct. I miss the 5500 and pentas 3'slike you would not believe. I still have the 9000 and have finally got the beosound 5 system working after a LOT of HASSLE. but that is another story for another thread. Your wifeis a hard negotiator and I will never forgive her for making me part with this systemfor the price that i did. I am really pleased that you are happy and have joined upto beoworld especially as a gold member (wheres my commission then).

I started a thread about the beosound which i will continue soon now that it is working OK. take care Glen and thanks for chasing the wasp for me.

An iconic system you have purchased there, I also have this system (amongst others) and it is one of my favourite EVER B&O products. Enjoy it for now and look forward to expanding your collection - it is inevitable

Congratulations to your purchase. It was funny to read your post. Good sound at the right place is something I wish more people could afford. Enjoy them!

Commiserations for Iain and well done for nudging Glen in this direction !

I have several 5000s and although many here do not see the "stackable" series as being design icons I certainly do

So I wish you many (and the family) many joyous listening hours and even more wonderful hours of admiring the simplicity and elegance of the design

A word of warning though ... it took me some 20 years to move my wife from reluctant acceptance of the first 5000 to embracing B&O, so my recommendation is for you to get a Beocom 6000 to complement your set-up :D

Nice system - pictures required! Which Pentas? Powered or passive? I too use a 5500 system as well as pentas, though not in the same room! I hope you really enjoy the system - Of course you will be needing a Beovision next, then rear speakers! Then the link system! Welcome to Beoworld! Much better to post on the forum as you should get more of an audience!

hi everyone, i thought i would just introduce myself, many thanks peter for replying to my question about the blog but to save a lot of hassle i thought i may as well post this on the general forum.so here goes after many bad purchases through different channels eg.ebay,freeads etc, i decided to look for a bang and olufsen system which would work has it should do!! difficult because it had to be in my wifes price range! but after many nights on the internet i came across someone selling asystem which SOUNDED right up my street exellent condition still had all the original boxes,manuals etc could this be the one. well after many emails back and forth bartering over the price by my WIFE! we came to an agreement,so one sunny sunday morning back in august i set off with my son on a little journey from west wales to nottingham.On arriving at our destination a very nice chap called iain answered the door and sat us down with a nice cup of tea,"had a nice journey he asked" yes thanks i replied while gazing at some very large floor standing speakers and a long multi disc cd player which was installed in the living room."before i take you to see your system would you like to hear this system he asked"great i thought " yes thanks very much" fabulous the sound was amazing. iain then escorted us to the dining room where i had my first look at the 5500 system and penta mk3 speakers i was intrested in buying .WOW! the condition was has he had discribed,pristine and the sound was awesome after a full demonstration and a long and lingering hug of the pentas by iain we managed to prise them away from him and along with the rest of the system packed them into the car, has we drove off i could hear him muttering "what have i done,what have i done"i think he had got quite attatched to them and believe me i could understand why.Well after a long journey home with my drivers seat pushed has far forward as it could go and my knees up round the steering wheel because of a very tall pair of pentas stuck in my back we arrived home,we carefully unloaded our load and installed itstill in its boxes in its new surroundings with my wife looking on and thinking i hope and pray this is the one! Well some weeks later and after many enjoyable hours and being amazed by its incredible sound i can report that to say i am happy is an understatement so once again many thanks to iain for making the dreams of a normal working man come true at last!!
