Hi,

No problem.

I'm using a 5 Metre DIN - RCA cable, cost me £50 a pair
from B&O. My local B&O store have popped over to examine this and it
appears to be that the Duet, although has great sound output, the volume levels
from the squeezebox are not as gradual as Bang & Olufsen Audios systems.
For example Bang & Olufsen Audio system will go: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and so on,
where as it seemed that the squeezebox is more like 4,8,12,16. So volume 0 is
0, but Volume 1 is 4, do you see? This is my problem, volume 1 on some songs is
actually quite high and is too high to listem as background sound.

A friend of mine had a similar problem when he wired up his basement den. He installed a simple line level controller to solve it.

Been reading the manuals for the Duet. I see no reason why this does not work. It produces variable line level which is what the BL3s run on and you should not need an attenuator as it does not have a power amplifier. What cables are you using?

Re: Beolab 3 Speakers - Is there a way to lower the sound?

Hi,

I have my Beolab 3's connected directly to the Squeezebox Duet, the
sound is awesome. However, on volume 1 its actually quite loud. Can
anyone help is recommending a way to reduce the volume? I have tried
using the Rothwell attenuators
but they didn't work as they needed to connect to the speakers rather
than the squeezebox and they don't have available the correct DIN
connection for this. I really appreciate help on this as I'm on the
verge of returning the speakers.
