Fantastic idea, would love to be certain I would be in the UK.

Perhaps we could even have a same-evening rolling event starting here in Melbourne and culminating somewhere in North America?

Another forum I belong to has a virtual Christmas party that lasts a week to allow everyone to participate; it is a hilarious process because a place is chosen (e.g. the Ice Hotel), participants arrive with by obscure means (e.g. I will carve a sleigh out of by BV8 packaging and have it pulled by kangaroos, Peter might choose to paddle across the North Sea in a canoe from B&O spare parts), and bring a guest (I have already lined up Nicole Kidman thank you very much!) ... and inevitably disasters and fun occur ("Ice Hotel lobby melts due to heat output and weight of a massed surround sound choir of 13 BeoLab 5s")

Any takers for either of my ideas?

Well the nights are getting darker, the leaves are going golden and the keener shops are now starting to covertly stash 'Christmas Items' on their shelves.. Yes, that time is approaching. 'Humbug' you say, but at least we get to eat drink and be merry!

Like any Christmas Party venue - the best ones are always booked up well in advance. No exception with this years venue - the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne, which we book 2 years in advance such is the demand for places there! For the record, i booked the Christmas 2010 party in July!!

Anyway - for this year we pre-booked 30 places, around 16 of which are already gone - so we are looking at 14 more spaces available, with a possibility of around 6 more if demand is high - i'll see what i can wangle should the need arise..

The date is Saturday December 12th 2009 - not too near Christmas Day, but still near enough to be right in the Christmas spirit!!

The venue, as mentioned, is the Grand Hotel Eastbourne - a stunning Luxury 5-Star venue in Eastbourne, East Sussex (well, we do deserve the best after all) offering the very best in accomodation, dining and local attractions. Fresh sea air, great company and a magnificent venue - what more could one ask for? It's a 'Black Tie' affair, so dust off the Tuxedo and celebrate Christmas with your online friends!

The Grand Hotel Christmas Party Night costs £48 for a 4-course dinner, and wine is available for pre-order or purchase on the night. You will also have access to a discounted room rate if you're staying at the hotel for the night, which we would certainly recommend!

Full menu details and times can be found on the link HERE - so please feel free to peruse! Special diets can of course be accomodated.

So, if you wish to purchase tickets, please go to the Gift Shop (then scroll to the bottom of the page) where you can buy them online. Once you have purchased them, i will pay the Grand Hotel directly on your behalf but if you need a room you will need to book directly with the hotel. Do remember to quote the party night to receive your special room rate.
