Okay, in my spare time last night I was going through the audio menus on the Pana. I discovered the place where you can turn off the speakers, but didnt have just on and off, it had on, off&fao and off&vao.

Does anybody know what FAO and VAO mean? I cannot find the owners manual...

Stefan,

There is a pair of audio out rca jacks which have been connected to the beomaster for a while, so that end of the problem is done.

With my setup I would turn the beomaster up quite a bit and leave it, and then adjust the volume with the pana, as the pana's output is volume controlled. I could reverse this situation with a solution that mika had submitted earlier, had I not overlooked it. I believe my pana has a menu option that allows me to turn off the integrated speakers, therefore I could turn the pana up, and adjust the volume with the beomaster.

As far as your suggestion of using the pana as a hub for all my sources, that is what I was doing initially using it for until I had this volume control issue...

If your Pana doesn`t have SCART sockets there should be RCA plugs instead, including audio out. So you will need a RCA to DIN adaptor.

It`s a danish product and works really great with Beo4/5. My son is controling his Samsung monitor, a stb and Xbox DVD player. These are connected to a BM3300 and CX50s. Another -238 box is controling my cinema installation in the living room.

No, I don`t think so. What I`m thinking of is to program a default volume level that will be set when the Pana powers up.

I would recommend to connect the Pana`s output to your BM4500. In this way all video devices connected to the Pana are automatically connected to the Beomaster.

I am intrigued with the idea of using my beo4 for my entire setup, my girlfriend constantly asks why I haven't done it yet , as she always reaches for the beo 4 first instead of the plastic Panasonic lump. Which lintronic product is it?

The Pana doesn't have a SCART connection, however I will check again to verify when I get home tonight.

I was wondering if I could use a RF module to split up the coax signal in some way?

Is there a menu setting that could change my audio out from volume controlled to a line level output?

Hi,

If your TV does have a scart connection, then even if it is in use, you can use one of the nifty scart adaptors shown above.

Its a scart plug, with a back to back socket - and L&R phono sockets on a short lead. It "taps" into the fixed, line level audio outputs that would go to a VCR or similar. Best used on a scart marked AV1 or similar - with the little two way arrow symbol, showing its an input/output socket, not input only, as some AV2/3/4 sockets can be older kit.

We use them a lot for outputting L&R audio from non B&O TV's to BeoSounds - there are two advantages to using one of these.

1. When you input change on the TV, the sound that goes into your A.Aux cnages - so your not getting different picture and sound issues - possible with input switches etc.

2. You don't lose the scart socket, which happens if you use a standard scart to L&R audio cable. You just unplug your VCR/DVD/cable, plug in the adaptor, then plug the other unit back in and "piggyback" it - then use a standard lead of suitable length to get the audio to your system.

An option might be to change the default volume setting of your Pana and control the whole system, Pana and BM4500, with Beo4 via a Lintronic box. Just press TV and the Pana starts up. At the same time the BM4500 will be activated in AUX mode, where your TV should be connected to.

Another option: Usually TVs have (in Europe SCART)-connections for a video device. These connections also have fixed - line level - audio outs, that can be connected to your BM4500.

It doesn't have a headphone socket, so I think I will just have to limit myself to listening to DVDs.

Well, if the TV has absolutely no other outputs for sound, there's not much you can do except rethink the setup. Why do you crank the volume of the TV down in the first place? I would disconnect it's own speakers (if you normally listen through them) and only listen to it through the Beomaster - which obviously has much better speakers connected anyway. If the TV has a headphone socket you could probably mute the internal speakers by inserting a dummy plug into it.

Other than that, you'd need to tap to line level audio somewhere inside the TV and build a separate audio output from it, which is pretty much beyond the scope of this forum...

TV audio out questions

I have a 36" Panasonic projection/tube style tv that has only one audio output, the problem is that it is a volume controlled output. When connected to my BM4500 I have to have the volume up quite high and then use the tv remote to turn up the volume, in turn increasing the signal to the Beomaster and then ultimately raising the volume. I would much rather have a straight signal going to the Beomaster so I could adjust the volume with the beomaster.

The scenario I wish for this to work is when watching cable programming. I do not have a cable box to get the audio from so it has to come from the tv.

Any tips?
