Essentially if your system works with a Beolink 1000 or Beo4, the BeoTime can work it. No real need to borrow one to find out and the dealer is more likely to lend you a Beo4 than the BeoTime.

When you have a good dealer - like I have - this shouldn't be any problem!

No need - it isn't going to work with anything pre-Beolink 1000.

j0hn is right, you will need to look towards anything after the BL1000 code cutover.

The only chance from a "wood" perspective you would have would be to look for a master/center that could be controlled with a Code Converter.

Discounting the "flat" BM3000 and "stack" 5000 (no wood), your options would be a BM6000 or 8000, or a BC7xxx.

The problem is finding a complete converter! ...and keep in mind that the 6000/8000 needs minor boardwork as well.

But hey! They are great choices! EVERYONE needs an 8000!

I've been thinking more about getting the Beotime. Currently I've got the Jacob Jensen alarm which, whilst a lot better than the usual £2.99 cheap plastic closcks you get in a lot of places) certainly has it's faults. Mainly that if I want to set it an hour earlier one day, I have to spend a few minutes advancing it 23 hours forward. Anyway, combined with the fact that I'd like to upgrade the hifi in my bedroom, you can see my point. I could just keep the Jensen one set at 5 o'clock or the like for if I accasionally need to get up early from time to time.

This brings me onto systems though. I already have a Century in the kitchen and a BS 5500 in my living room and I'd quite like one of the more 'woody' themed units for my flat but are any of them compatible with the BeoTime? A friend suggested a BeoLab 3500 but the thing is I'd rather have something less discrete that I can have sitting next to my desk
