No real need to borrow one to find out and the dealer is more likely to lend you a Beo4 than the BeoTime.

Re: Beotime and older compatible systems

TWG:

The best solution:

Go to your dealer and ask him if you can try it at home with your own components. Than you'll see if everything works fine!

When you have a good dealer - like I have - this shouldn't be any problem!

No need - it isn't going to work with anything pre-Beolink 1000.

The problem is finding a complete converter!

Good luck!
The only chance from a "wood" perspective you would have would be to look for a master/center that could be controlled with a Code Converter.

Discounting the "flat" BM3000 and "stack" 5000 (no wood), your options would be a BM6000 or 8000, or a BC7xxx.

The problem is finding a complete converter! ...and keep in mind that the 6000/8000 needs minor boardwork as well.

But hey! They are great choices! EVERYONE needs an 8000!

Re: Beotime and older compatible systems

I'm assuming no, as they don't use the codes from the Beolink 1000 onwards...

This brings me onto systems though. I already have a Century in the kitchen and a BS 5500 in my living room and I'd quite like one of the more 'woody' themed units for my flat but are any of them compatible with the BeoTime? A friend suggested a BeoLab 3500 but the thing is I'd rather have something less discrete that I can have sitting next to my desk
