I have a puzzle with this one as I can't understand the tape . It works OK but I can't get the stop button to do anything. To stop I just turn off the whole set or FF the tape to the end when the auto stop works. As I have no user guide I don't know whether there is a fault or whether there is some odd function with the auto reverse or Dub facility that I have engaged by accident. So far it is one of life's mysteries but does not stop me enjoying the set.

I took out the steel retaining clip and put some penetrating oil on the plunger. With the clip out, I could put a pin in the hole and rotate the plunger to free it. This didn't take long and now with some clock oil to lubricate it, it works a dream.

I have also a Beocenter hidden away because I made a mess of things. (It is no good reverse engineering and repairing faults at the same time). Now that I have found a fountain of knowledge I will resurrect it and try to undo my damage and then cure the original fault. I will be asking some more simple questions, because of my ignorance there may be lots of them but I am determined somehow or other to get it working. The engineering of B&O is too good to leave it hidden away in a cupboard.

Thanks again

Things move quickly on this Forum, I read through the thread you quoted and the information is clear and comprehensive. I found the pin concerned and will follow the instructions to free it. I am glad I asked, because if I had gone the way I first intended I might have had a major disaster.

I am new to this Forum so hope that this is not an inappropriate posting.

I have just acquired a Beogram 1500 because I am interested in vintage Radio items and also want to use it for my collection of Vinyl records. It does however have a problem that makes it unusable. The arm does not lower on to the record. It moves to the start position and that is all.

Looking at the mechanism there is a black sector that the adjusting screw rests on and I imagine that this should lower for the record to play. It does not move however. In fact it seems very rigid so I am reluctant to try and free it with force in case it is not designed to move and the lowering mechanism is elsewhere.

Can anyone help me please before I do any damage.?

Many thanks

John
