There was a fault on all these type of CD player which required a modification - I wonder if it was done in this case. It is the Beocenter2300 with 6000 speakers. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;There appears to be some sort of fault on it. When I turn it on, there is what appears to be, a loud earth hum. This does not go away but is covered once I start to play music. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I have disconnected all the inputs except the CD and also the speakers. Using the headphone socket only and a new pair of headphones the hum is still there. This seems to point to the 2300 itself.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Anyone any ideas, Could it be a common fault that is easily fixed.&lt;/p&gt;
