Most of the weight is at the bottom of the speaker. if the power button is at the top, then i'd say it's around the wrong way. If you placed it this way on a table, the centre of gravity would be wrong and it could be easily knocked over.

Can't see it making any difference to the sound, the tweeter is in the middle of the speaker.

Re: Beolab 4000 Vertical Placement

I would say there is no universal right or wrong way. I would say that having the power button (and bass speaker) on the bottom is the traditional placement, but if you prefer the sound with bass on top, then go for it. Generally speaking, you want to the tweater to be near ear level which is why you typically see all speakers with the bass on the bottom and tweater on the top.

I have BeoLab4000 speakers on a table base and the power button is at the bottom. In the current main catalogue they are shown on page 45 with the power button at the bottom. If you remove the fabric grill, the serial number sticker is the right way.

I have never tried inverting them to see if it makes a difference. Somebody may say the at having the bass speaker at the top alters the sound. Why not try them both ways and see if it makes any difference?

Regards

When they are placed vertically, the power button is at the bottom of the speakers right !! If you see them placed vertically but the power button is at the top in any B&O shop, would you say they had done it wrong ?? or it is actually alright !!
