Is BeoLine 2 the newer, 'rounder' PSTN base (http://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=1235) or a totally new product? If so, is Beoline 2 compatible with BeoCom 6000 Mk II (with earset connectivity)? Would be interesting as I plan to upgrade my older, rectangular PSTN base...

For a US customer, this is all extremely confusing. The "English" manual available on bang-olufsen.com makes reference to a BeoLine which might indicate they refer to the US Beoline, but I suspect _not_, and refers only to the Euro-Beoline.

Why? Because when the manual lists handsets that are compatible with Beoline 2, it does not list Beocom 1, which is ... a two-line cordless. It is what I have.

My US-Beoline for Beocom 1 is a two-line box... which is not compatible at all with US-Beocom 6000 Mk1.

Re: First picture of the new BeoCom 5 ?

burantek:

As another thread is now showing the Beocom 5 in the N American Catalog(ue) maybe the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing at B&O !

Nice display and the hands free speaker is good. Same price as a Beocom 2 (just a little less) but not as iconic. The problem is integrating it into a present system as you lose the 2 line facility.

Re: First picture of the new BeoCom 5 ?

Saw the Beocom 5 in the flesh at our dealers open night on Wednesday, it is much nicer than I'd thought looking at the pictures.
Release date : early november

At launch, no possibility to get the handset only (without base), but surely it will be possible soon enough

The speaker/mic of the base seems to be incredible : ability to have a decent conversation from one corner of the room with the speaker at the other end... Seems promising.

This release date. Is this the date when we can expect to find/buy the phone in the store? Or is it just the presentation day?

Sure, but the photo shows the side that is "exposed" for all to see when it is in the base!

Compare all that "busy-ness" to the elegance of what you see sitting in the room with any single one of their other phones!

On the other hand...

As the keyset is exposed to a user in a desktop setting... I would hope that you would be able to initate/respond to calls w/o having to remove the handset from the speakerphone base...

If so, this phone would be nice in the "home office" but anywhere else... just not sure!

Frankly, I was hoping for a 6000 Mk3 that added the speakerphone capability right in the handset, so... say as I walk to another location, I could set the phone down, hit speaker, and continue the conversation. In fact, I am surprised they did not take this route, as this is supposedly the last phone from B&o ever??? I can't believe they would have gone to all this trouble + development of a new beoline base (that is not even completely compatible w/ your legacy BC's?), when they simply could have added a "SPK" button to the 6000! Imagine if the $ and resources had been spent on... oh I don't know... the BS5 or the new BV7???

hmmm... How do you spell k-i-k-o-n-i-k-o?

Re: First picture of the new BeoCom 5 ?

Don't forget it's the "back side", the phone has a reverse design !

Re: First picture of the new BeoCom 5 ?

From what I've seen so far I'm still not impressed.
