Thank you for your advice Peter. I presume that using a non B&O digital tuner does not compromise the classic B&O sound and vision.

Not in the slightest and with the STB-C, Sky+ could easily be part of the original system. Works seamlessly.

Two things to bear in mind though - one is that the 32" wide screen has a shorter optimum viewing distance than your 28" MX ... and conversely, that the Avant has a huge presence - even when switched off. It will not suit a room with low ceiling height in my opinion.

Picture and sound quality are outstanding from any source and you will certainly notice a big difference from an MX. Mine is connected to a Sky box via an STB-C which of course also means control of the box from link rooms. Highly recommended.

Check the dealers in addition to resellers for trade-ins. Prices seem to have fallen off quite dramatically recently.

Much cheaper and upgradeable. Consider either Sky+ or something like a Humax 9300T - then you can record as well.

Whether it is sensible to get an Avant now is debatable. One with a low amount of use would be a good buy in my opinion but only at a good price - I would look for one with a warranty from one of the resellers like Lifestyle AV.

MX 6000 replacement TV

My MX 6000 28" TV is showing distinct signs of a terminal illness after many long years of service. I was considering replacing it with a 32 DVD Avant RF. Would this be a sensible choice with regard to the age of the Avant models ? I was also thinking about the analogue/digital change over and was wondering if B&O supplied a digital tuner module for these sets. I am told that the Avant CRT picture is close to HD LED flat screens but I'm a little concerned about buying into old technology that may be expensive to repair. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
