Frede then found two real ones so I sent all the bits back to Tim and said he could sell it once he had reassembled and fixed it!! He said it was a beast of a job so I hope he got a decent price!! Rest assured that it was completely taken apart by me and put meticulously back together by Tim!! Definitely the right way round!

You are right Peter, Tim told me that. I have to say that he did a fantastic job in putting everything together. I'm sure the BM is worth much more than what I paid for it. It looks and sounds like heaven. I would buy anything from Tim anytime. It's just a pitty I don't live in the UK as shipment is a key factor in cost.

What the AV9000 (gorgeous set!) really needs is more s-video inputs, the rgb inputs are really poor on the LX55/60/MX55/60/70/AV9000 sets - even composite gives better pq (well, if you can stand the jaginess of composite) than rgb on these sets. What a pity :-(

I use an AV2 and have a Wii, a Sky box and a DVD/Freeview box attached to mine. The Sky is controlled by a STB-C and the DVD by a DVD-C (though I don't use the DVD-C much as it does not work all the functions).

Yes the AV9000 is a firm favourite with BL3000 as front and a pair of CX100 off a Cona as the rear surround speakers.

Just a shame it only has one free Scart socket, unless I can find a reasonable B&O AV expander.

I do too allthough without stereo or surround speakers its only a great timeless design compared to my LX5500.

It's got very good picture quality though.

Beovision AV9000 in the living room. Connected to Beosystem 6500 so I can still enjoy it in the living room. I do lack surround speakers for the AV9000 though. Beo4 as main remote.

3 X-tra speaker kits. 1 X-tra tvkit. So far white Beovox CX100's in the kitchen with a speakerkit. The other 2 are still in the boxes NOS. MCP6500 used mostly in kitchen.

IR code converter kit. Still missing IR eye and a transformer. Not used. Not for sale though

I belive that it should be used and I can't keep every thing that turns up in my life but in some cases I might go for it but I'm not a collector.

That was cramped living. 16 square meters but with B&O around it was cool. Now I wonder how did I fit it all into that place?

And never will be.
I could have chosen matchboxes instead of radio's.
I sell the odd part from a scrapped machine now and then plus some repro parts that are otherwise
unavailable but nothing I can make a living from. I like to repair and restore old B&O's
and I enjoy helping people with the same interest.

And therein lies the spirit of Beoworld in a nutshell and exactly why it is easily the best & friendliest forum on the net. I just hope I too help others (on a much lesser scale) as does Martin.

My major problem is a distinct lack of space and a wife who thinks every spare flat surface we own is perfect storage for shoes

Impressive collection Martin. I started in 2000 and have had plenty of new stuff and recently more and more vintage. In my retro (big) room I have:

Beogram 1000, 1800, 4000, 4002, 4004.

Beolab 5000 (1967), Beomaster 5000 (1967), 3000-2 (from you), 4000, 4400 (Tim Jarman's)

Beovox 5000, S-45, S-55

MX4000, Beovision 8

Beo4, Beolink 1000

and some 30 catalogues between 1967 and 2009.

My next targets: Thorens turntable, Beosystem 8000, Beolab penta's, a Beomaster 900k (I completely missed your auction Martin) and probably a Beosystem 5000 or any of its derivatives.. I can expect fighting with my wife to get this in our place.

Well, it all looks perfectly normal to me.

I don't have a photo of my BM1000 collection as such. I've collected B&O
since the mid-70's, mainly their audio stuff, and it just happens the Beomaster
1000 was made in so many different versions and sub-revisions that collecting
them all will be next to impossible, especially if taking different woodsorts
into consideration as well. One version alone has (at least) 35 sub-revisions.
I own close to 100 or so BM1000's, not all different unfortunately, and my
collection is far from complete.
The majority of my collection is in large storage boxes, parked at friends
and family members with room(s) to spare - not a lot to photograph there -
and a few things are in bubble-wrap plastics on shelves like in these photos.
The BM1000's are not even collected the same place but there are some here.

If Martin decides to dispose of this lot the second hand B&O market will collapse overnight!

That would be bad news for existing collectors.

Good news for anyone who'd just got the bug.

Thank god for the bubble wrap, just think how hard it would be for your wife to have to dust all that stuff !

Not that I should talk I am rapidly heading down the same slippery slope. I just added a Beomaster 1600 and a beogram 1600 to my "collection".

Quite right - very little money to be made in old B&O. I think our collections just creep up on us! I got to over 100 pieces and then decided that I simply had too much and it was wasted. I now having everything I want and a few bits I don't!
