I think you'll find (afterI checked myself again) that the early SKY+ boxes had co-axial and the later ones only have optical.

It seems I have one of each!

BUT it does make a huge difference to the sound of SKY if you have the 5.1 Dolby card in the Avant, etc.

The Sky+ and Sky HD boxes don't have co-axial output, they output the digital sound through optical output. The Avant doesn't have optical input, only co-axial. Hence the need to convert one to the other.

BTW be aware that the convertors are NOT uni-directional. "Optical in-Coaxial out" cannot be used the other way round and vice versa.

Hi Nic

Maplins in the UK do an optical to coaxial convertor. You will need a toslink optical lead and a phono lead to go into the back of your Avant.

Does anyone know where I can purchase a cable to connect from the sky+ box to the digital input on my avant.
