A kind of solving the problem is to order a (panasonic) DVI module.

Order the DVI extension cable and plate, so you'll have a digital (video) input.

But if you re having an early (mk1) BV5, then the BV5 software probably doesn't support choosing the DVI module.

Check you're software version if you're having doubts about which mk you have. It has to upgraded to 16.2

If the software can't be upgraded, the you can solve that by ordering an original panasonic remote for screen to select the DVI input of the screen.

Sometimes modules can be found on ebay.

You don't need a B&O DVI module, a panasonic version will do the job.

Audio can be attached to the Camcorder input on the left side.

Is the problem that it's the first time the Mini is started up?

I have a mac mini connected to my BeoSystem 3 and it works great. Through adapters, the mini-DVI output go to HDMI input, but this gives picture only. For sound, I use the optical audio out going through a optical-> coax converter, then into one of the BS3's digital audio jack. If you have your BV5 configured correctly to take the HDMI input, the Mac will see it as just another DVI monitor.

If you need more details, let me know and I'll fill in the details after I get home. I live in the US, but don't think that should make much difference in this case, as HDMI is universal.

Thanks Paul, but my BV5 is one of the early BV5's. It only has scarts and one video input.

Oh cr*p. I think you are right... I talked to a apple "genius" at the store today asking this exact question. Dammit. I gave this problem my whole free day.

Returning the damn thing tomorrow.

I would suggest plugging it up as a standard computer (full KVM + network) for the first startup, do your config'ing and then place it in its final position attached to the BV5.

Thanks, I'll do this. I just got so stressed when driving 20km just to get the right spdif cable, coming back home realizing the DVI cable I had was an extension cable, having one female one male end... ARRRGHHH! At this point I gave up. Dammit. Won't get time to do this properly before next week.

So typical.

OK, but the mini is brand new, and the basic info is not even set... You know the activation etc...

I couldn't get it to work using scart on my old TV either, and of course I didn't have a DVI cable to connect it with... Gave up. Drinking beer now.
