Search for "C2103" on the forum and you will find plenty of information on fixing this.

Just bought a Beocenter 9000...

...on Ebay for $90. It looks pretty decent; definitely something restorable (or mostly, anyway).

So, what I wanted to ask, was for any recommendations regarding things to replace and parts upgrades.

I've read about the CD holder mechanism breaking, and that there are no new parts made for it anymore. Also, about the certain cap (C2103 or something like that...) that is finicky about having an exact replacement.

As of now, all the glass and aluminum panels are loose. I hooked the bracket for the tape door back up, and I can open the CD and tape doors manually. When the BC itself tries to open either of them, I can hear the sound of a motor working in the unit, but nothing happens.

It plays tapes just fine, and tunes in stations just fine. When it tries to play a CD, the disc sits too loose, so it doesn't spin up to speed. I used the magnet trick to clamp down on the disc, and the CD will then spin, and the BC acts like it wants to read and play it, but it just doesn't quite get there.

Other than that, it's just a matter of cleaning up the panels, re-gluing the glass, and putting it back together. I think it'll turn out nice.

Looking forward to this project. Anyone have any tips and/or suggestions?

Thanks for any advice!
