I'm sure it won't affect the value.
It's very common to see the antenna plug missing on these models.
That happens if the Beomaster was used with an external antenna and the easiest
way for the owner was to use the plug already there for the new antenna.
When the radio was later moved or taken out of service and put away, the plug is left with
the external antenna rather than put back.

Thanks for such a quick reply! I'll definitley be giving those a try. Hopefully not having the original one won't devalue the unit too much.

And don't worry about hijacking a thread, especially when it's related to your problem.
The original plug can be hard to find but it can easily be replaced by a pair of good old
standard banana-plugs.
Something like these will work fine (and they don't have to be gold-plated) :

These may be for soldering on the leads, screw-mount types also exist, there are many on Ebay.

Hi, Sorry to Hijack the thread, but I have one of these with the same problem, the two red wires are hanging from the unit, with no two-pin adaptor thingy attached to them. I am trying to sell the unit and can't until I have the missing piece. So I was wondering if you have any idea where I could get one from or what I could do to make the aerial bit work? Would very much appreciate any info.

Hi Dave,

The complete service manual is available for download from our main website
for silver and gold members (easily worth the small fee for all the info in there).
It's correct that there are several different versions of the Beomaster 900K but
they are all fairly the same with regards to the antenna circuit.

Welcome to Beoworld Dave, and congratulations for starting with a great classic such as the Beomaster 900K! They are a worthy piece for any collection, and/or just for daily use as a really lovely table radio. That's indeed how I started!

The brown socket is for AM antenna & grounding lead - you don't need to use it for anything if you only want to listen to FM programs. The service manual is on site for silver & gold members, but you might not need it for this (and it may not be that useful, since there were numerous versions of the 900).

From both of the sockets, one round plug (and the vertical slot) should be connected to chassis ground. From the FM socket, the other plug and the horizontal slot is supposed to connect into a tuned circuit of one (adjustable) coil and a capacitor in parallel. Looking at the schematic, they are probably hanging "free" and not installed on a PCB. From the AM socket, the other round plug and horizontal slot are connected directly somewhere to the "aerial" switch on the front panel, I suppose you should find the loose connections somewhere.

Do you know the internal wiring of the brown and red sockets. I'm afraid they are both loose and I need to wire then into the main unit.

What is the brown socket for?

The red socket is for a dipol FM antenna like the two built-in leads.
The two red wires should have a matching plug like here:

If anyone could give me some help it would be much appreciatted!! I have just inherited a Beomaster 900 stereo radio with the two speakers all in the cabinet. It was in a bit of a bad way but I have taken it apart and have renovated all of the case and most of the inside.

The sticking point for me is that I have two aerial sockets (one brown and one red) that were loose from the back. Also there is two red wires out of the case which seem to be an aerial but I do not know where they attach.

Does anyone have any wiring diagrams of this model or know how the aerial wiring is done??? Any help greatfullt recieved.
