Hi there!

I have the new Sony BDP-s360 blu-ray player with the BeoVision 8-40 and it is absolutely excellent in terms of picture and sound performance. 100% recommended and it is one of the few that decodes DTS-HD via HDMI. Even though this is new on the market, I have noticed that its price is continuously falling, unlike B&O products!

I researched a lot before buying this player and apart from the Pioneer 320 which is almost twice the price, the reviewers are loving this little Sony!

The TV only excepts infrared commands and the PS3 does not, so the bluewave converts the infrared commands sent down the wire into a format that the PS3 understands.

Pardon my ignorance, if Beo 5 and the Beo 4 work well with the PUC, why would one need a Nyco Bluewave (is it to control more complicated functions)? Thanks.

I currently use the Nyco Bluewave with my PS3 and its works fine with the Beo 5 and the Beo 4 as the PUC is already available. The only negative is that you have to press the Sony controller to turn it on but all other functions are performed flawlessly. Its just a little USB stick that occupies 1 of the USB ports on the front of the PS3. I would recommend it highly.

Whatever you do, do test the player at a store before you purchase (as opposed to buying sight-unseen on the web). My father has a Panasonic Blu-Ray player that is unbelievably sluggish in some respects. For example, just to open the disc tray takes one minute (machine powers up and goes through an incredibly long start-up procedure before tray opens). The remote control is the typical eyesore with thirty incomprehensible buttons.

I use a Samsung BDP-1600. Everything works via PUC. The DVD upscaling is excellent!

I use the Sony BDP 350 S with my BV8-40, for blue-ray and upscaled DVD it performs very well. It is inside my Beo BV8-40 cabinet and I can not hear anything from the BDP 350.

However, there is no support for divX and other formats (however, I have my Beomaster5 to manage those other formats). The beo4 works excellent to control the BDP 350. Took some time though to figure out that you need to press go and then the corresponding command, eg go then ff, to fast forward. My Sony remote is still unused, and safely tucked away ;-)

Any experiences with other players then the PS3?

What are considered good options quality wise and also integration wise (PUC control)?

I have the 40GB model, which was made in 2007. Always silent, until it's in that cabinet. Problem is, I can't take it out now for logistical reasons.

Mine was also silent when put in a cabinet (I just tried that once in order to verify that I can change my TV furniture for a closed one, and everything was ok, when opened again, nothing was hot and the fans were turning at low speed). For some games, my PS3 can be hot and make some noise, but I've never had problems with movies, that's why I was asking you what model you have.

What version do you have? Mine is nearly silent, the fan are running, but at low speed (it's a recent 80gb version)

If you read through my previous posts.....I've always said mine was silent too, until I put it in the BS3 cabinet. It now gets warm, almost immediately and the fans come on! Nothing else in the cabinet suffers from the same problem.

PS3 is fine when it receives a lot of fresh cool air, it appears.
