Beolab 5000 was released in the shops in 1967.

The Beogram 3000 / Thorens TD 124 MKII was released in 1968 and was only sold about one year.

At the same time the Beogram 3000 with the Dutch Acustical record deck was produced for the Dutch, Swedish and UK market also only one year.

The Beolab 5000 / Beomaster 5000 was sold until 1971/72

I think its a Beolab 5000 in A Clockwork Orange!

'A Clockwork Orange' features a Beolab 5000 and a Beomaster 5000 as well. The turntable shown in the scene is a Michel Transcriptors Hydraulic Reference - a magnificent piece of design/styling, the descendants of which are still being made today (unlike the BG 400x, sadly)

You're probably right Llewelyn, but didn't the Beolab 5000 system come with the BG4000 as the recommended deck?

Chris.

Don't think so - Beolab 5000 was out of production some years before the BG4000 came out (1968-71 vs 1974-). But that never prevented movie makers from using them in the same scene!

I have to admit the last time I saw The Clockwork Orange was before I got into B&O, so can't say what was there. I once tried to look for the scene in Youtube, but couldn't find those particular seconds.

Re: B&O Turntable mystery

You're probably right Llewelyn, but didn't the Beolab 5000 system come with the BG4000 as the recommended deck?

Does anyone remember seeing a movie with a Bang turntable that had a light up cartridge/tonearm? It was simply the trademark B&0 on an ivory background about 1/4by1/4 on the cartrige. I remembered liking, but not remembering the title or the model of the turntable. My dvd player is going to die from me fast forwarding all the movies i own in tis search, and i am beginning to think it was a rental..
