How does that gear sound? I intend also to replace my BV3-32, sitting in a Beolab 5000/3000 setup, by the new 8-40.

I finally got the Lab 5000s, speaker covers are not as bad, quite dusty and the speaker covers have lost their silvery flecks. The corners are frayed, so the best option will be to change the cloth. I have been given rather substantial looking powerlink cables (these must be the Mark 2s).

The stainless steel sections have some marks on them, and a couple of places where there is (very) slight discolouration of the panel - any suggestions on how to get them looking good again? could I use a stainless steel polish?

My final set up will be

Overture, BV8-40, Lab 5000's (front), Lab 6000 (rear).

For the time being I will either forgo a sub, or use a Yamaha sub, until the new B&O sub is launched later this year (or next year). I will also look into the B&W subwoofer, which looks quite good!

I have a couple of Blue BL3000's hooked up to an AV9000. :-)

Exact same setup, and I have my rears daisychained -no problem. Just set the R and L switches...

And keep in mind -you will need the Mk2 powerlink leads for the front 5000's readout.

Peter is right, you can daisychain the rear speakers with just one Powerlink coming from the TV.

I have Avant with BL4000 front and BL6000 rear, both daisychained.

Peter are you sure of this ?? You are right that the powerlink carry both right and left signal, but when you use it in a surround setup, you have to use seperate cables to the speakers ........ why else do the TV have 5 (powerlink) outlets on the surround module? I haven't tried the BV8, but this is the setup you have to make on ex. the Avant.

Peter, thank you for your quick response. Having a single thin cable running to the rear speakers makes for an easier job in hiding the cables. If I end up getting the Lab 5000's (and getting the speaker cover replaced)- these will be my front speakers. I am still deciding whether to use Lab 4000 or 6000 for rears.

My initial idea was to use 6000 for fronts & 4000 for rears.

I agree that the LX is a superb. Good sound & picture. Easy to use. Simple, but very effective. The one I use is black.

I hope the BV8-40 can match the LX for sound, picture & ease of use.

You certainly can loop the Powerlink cables - the rear Powerlink sockets carry both right and left signal.I use my rear speakers in just such an arrangement.

Many people use non B&O sub woofers - the B&W one seems very popular - you will need to get a special cable though.

The cloth from a Beolab 5000 is easily replaced. The cloth mounts on a plastic frame - not very substantial - make sure the cloth is designed to be used as speaker fabric - it needs to be acoustically transparent.

The LX6000 is a super set - I have one in our bedroom - I used to have a beautiful rosewood one but now make do with a black one!

Hello All,

My first post as a Beoworlder

I am thinking about getting a BV 8-40 to replace a LX6000 (which still works and sounds great!). The question I have about the surround sound module - can the rear surround speakers be fed from one powerlink socket (and looped to the second speaker), or do I have to run a separate powerlink cable to each speaker? Is is possible to use a non B&O subwoofer with the BV 8-40?

I am in the position of obtaining a pair of Beolab 5000 panel loudspeakers, however, the cloth fabric is damaged. Is it possible to replace the fabric? it is easy to remove the speaker cover and replace it with new (wife approved colour!) fabric?
