when a run of masterlink cables reaches 20m it is nessasery to connect the pink to step the voltage up to maintain correct operation. this is done inside a masterlink junction box. this is also the reason why it is not possible to purchase a 'pre made' masterlink cable woth plugs at each end that is longer than 20m.

Makes sense, the cables run to the other rooms and probably reach the 20m mark.

Due to moving the beoport i will need to create a new junction half way along one the longer wires - as this is probably only 5-8m further along do i need to step the voltage again at the new junction?

Thanks

Re: Masterlink query

when a run of masterlink cables reaches 20m it is nessasery to connect the pink to step the voltage up to maintain correct operation. this is done inside a masterlink junction box. this is also the reason why it is not possible to purchase a 'pre made' masterlink cable woth plugs at each end that is longer than 20m.

Re: Masterlink query

Blue abd Pink should be connected when done in this manner. However if you ahve any real concerns (but you shouldn't) just use a masterlink junction box to make the connectioin.

Re: Masterlink query

As far as I'm aware, ML-sense (blue-white) isn't actually used.

Re: Masterlink query

Thanks for the replies.

Did have a flick through the handbook but couldn't see why the two wires would be connected.

Though all works so no problem really

We are doing some renovations at home and therefore i need to move the beoport location. To do so I removed the masterlink cable for the beoport from the masterlink junction the installers had added for the ML cables going off to different rooms – when I say junction it’s simply the different wires in the ML cable soldered together as required and taped up.

One I think I noticed was that all the blue/white wire and pink wires were connected together at the junction – what would be the reason for that?

Also the three non-insulated metal wires running through each cable were also connected to each other – what are these wires used for?
