I have connected it with a HDMI cable and i'm using a USB Dongle for control with the Beo4.

Should i have the PS3 set to a certain setting to get the best picture?

Sony BDP-S300 (I don't really know market specifications...). We use two in our store, plugged in two BeoSystems 3. The connections are: HDMI & IR. The integration is total & perfect: we control them with Beo4 via STB-Controller
the SDP300 is a first generation and not profile 2 compliant- it also takes and age to load anything- sont have just scrapped it
Which is why I will be exchanging my 300 with my B and O dealer for the new 550 as soon as it is released, as well as for added support of Dolby and DTS HD Audio.
But as for working with the BS3 and Beo 4, which was the question being responded to, not a question about the capabilities of a specific player, the answer is absolutely yes.

Well the tests I and engineers have undertaken thus far indicate no HD audio - or suitable handshake for the following players- panasonic BD30, panasonic BD50 Sony PS3 and Sony BDP 300 ( with version 4.2 update that allows true audio HD)and all previous generation Pioneer product- maybe the new Sony will be the first player that sends Hd audio via HDMI and the bs3 recognises it- perhaps the BS3 was way ahead of its time after all.

I am using the same player and it works fine. The Beo 4 controls all basic functions with the exception of turning it off. However, I have the player set to turn off after 30 minutes paused so I use STOP on the Beo 4 to pause it when done and 30 minutes later it will turn off. Of course it can also be turned off on the player itself when removing the disc but the other method works fine when stopping in the middle of a movie.

I have a new BeoVision 4-65 (Colour Management Version) being driven by the BeoSystem 3, connected is a PS3 and a Sky HD Box.

What settings do i need to set my PS3 to as the picture isn't as good as it could be? Do i need to do anything to my BeoSystem 3?

Agreed I have that prob too but that is a problem caused by the sky hd box i think.

Thanks Beonut, maybe it was the software version that was causing confusion. I have 2.7. (I wish B&O would provide a changes list fir each software version)

I had originally bought a optical to coax converter for the Playstation but realised that it was not needed.

I have a playstion 3 plugged into my bs3 only with an hdmi cable I have just put in a DTS DVD and selected the DTS track , I am hearing beautiful DTS 5.1 with no sp/dif cable. I can confirm this by looking at the PS3 display which says it is playing DTS 5.1, and the BS3 sound menu is stating Multichannel PCM 5.1 which makes sense.

I agree with Corvin, you only need an HDMI cable. Only other thing I can think of is as of BS3 sw version 2.7 you can choose where the sound comes from either hdmi or another input.

That's the point - the processor would detect the DTS and switch on the rear speakers automatically - they don't if you only have the HDMI cable plugged in.

Isn't that because you require speaker 5 for the surround?

I am using the HDMI only and the surround is fantastic. Think i have only tried PCM with the Playstation 3.
