SD cards are now extremely cheap and the capacity is going up. However, SWMBO spent some time today loading up a 4GB SDHC card for use in her BS 3 only to find that, just to agree with the previous post in this thread, the 4GB card does not work in the BS3. On inserting the card the display briefly shows 'A' and then reverts to 'LOAD'.

Hopefully makers will continue to produce 2GB cards!

I'd imagine on a BS3 speaker it's fantastic (never tried LAME on a BS3/BS2).

Re: beosound 3 sd card size

yes, excetly.

also, actually by using good encoding software/hardware, you can enjoy good music with 128kbps, you can have 500 songs each time !!!!!

Re: beosound 3 sd card size

I think people are missing the point with SD cards. They aren't meant to be like hard drives - large amounts of data stored. Think of them like a cassette tape, maybe five albums stored (possibly on a 2 gb card at very high quality). People were never looking to fit 20 albums on a single cassette tape...

Re: beosound 3 sd card size

usually the use of SD card is for portable players. A large memory will lead to significiant drop of battery life due to long searching time.

but i really love B&O using SD card... so you can get unlimited upgrade of your system.

Re: beosound 3 sd card size

First of all, I don't know if BS2, BS3 and BS4 accept SDHC, as this is a new format.

All of the systems above accept SD cards up to 4GB without any problem. With larger memory, the problem is just, that the access to the files will be quite slow. IMO, a 2GB SD card is more than enough for these beosounds. I use 1 GB cards for my BS3, and I never stock it up to the maximum, as it gets difficult to search for files/songs. I have one SD card for classical music, one for jazz and one for random music. IMO, 2 GB of music, even at 320GB is more than sufficient.

Re: beosound 3 sd card size

well, from B&O, they don't recommend RAM card over 2GB, even for beosound 4 which supports 4GB cards.

First of all, for music only, if you buy fast memory, it is totally a waste. Over 2GB will lead to much slower accessing speed. Also, above speed may need to update the hardware/software, there are some technical problems.

I guess 2GB is enough for 320kpbs or below music files.

beosound 3 sd card size

hi,

i've seen on the official site that the beosound 3 accepts sd cards "up to 2 go"...

that doesn't seem like much. i was looking at one of the new 8 go sdhc cards. has anyone got their bs3 to work with more than 2 go or better yet with the news sdhc cards ?

thanks,

scott
