In practice I get better results connecting my iPod to assorted B&O kit when using a powered iPod dock than I do whan using a lead connecting directly to the iPod headphone socket, which has never been satisfactory for me. The dock only cost £20 from Richer Sounds in the UK but it made a huge difference. I then use a lead from Sounds Heavenly to connect the 3.5mm socket at the back of the dock to the B&O system.

Make sure you have the iPod's volume limit set to max (so it gives full output). Otherwise it might be too faint for the Pentas. (The iPod output at max is ABOUT the line level so it might be a bit low even at full level. I have a BC9000 with Pentas and if I connect the iPod (volume at max) to the AUX input it needs higher volume levels (in BC) to give enough sound).

Got a 9500 arriving in a few days.

I have had the Penta's connected to an Ipod , but it isnt the best. They seam to have alot background noise when playing music, bit muddy. Could this be the caps etc?

Are there any checks I can do to make sure they are performing the way they were designed to.
