&lt;p&gt;Unfortunately without a remote the MX5000 is useless. The buttons on the MX are very basic and only usable only after you have tuned it in with the remote.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;You say your Beolink 1000 is broken - what exactly is the problem? Is it dead? Have you tried changing the batteries? If so look at the remote through the camera on your mobile to see if the infa red lights up..&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:small;"&gt;I can use the on/off and it seems the other buttons changes the channel up. but how can I turn th channel down?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
