&lt;p&gt;Daniel was referring to analogue cordless phones - they are now not approved for use in some EU countries for a few reasons: &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;firstly the signal is broadcast without encryption, so anyone with a basic radio scanner can listen in to your conversation (I used to have lots of fun doing this as a student..) &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;secondly because there are concerns that the higher transmission wattage will fry your brain&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;thirdly the frequencies have now been allocated for other uses.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;and also because it will mean that manufacturers can sell more new phones....&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Having said that, I doubt anyone will know or care if you use it, so enjoy &lt;img src="http://forum.beoworld.org/emoticons/01.gif" alt="Smile" /&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
