yes I have tried to contact them but noticed they have recently closed the two shops I know off due to the credit crunch I guess.

Easy to install yourself if your not upgrading any of the software.

Takes about 10/15 mins.

I live in Spain also Andy and my 'local' shop has closed, the nearest now being in Alicante. Whatever the distance though I would have thought B&O has some obligation to provide a level of service to its customers despite the distance between customer and dealer.

My STC-C was fitted after contacting the local dealer where I bought the set but the engineer came from Alicante, some 100kms away!

Have you rung your 'nearest' dealer?

Thanks for you help looks like mine does not have it, Do you know where I can get one. I live in Spain and tried the local B and O shops which much to my dismay have both closed do to the recession. Luxury Hi FI taken a big hit after the banking problems. I also sent a couple of emails to local UK dealers where I come from but no one responds.

Hi applemac

While you are round the back of the Avant checking out your sockets, make a note of the serial number. If it turns out that you don't have Set Top Box controller fitted, the serial number will indicate if it is possible to have STBc retro fitted.

As a general guide serial numbers below 128xxxxx cannot have STBc fitted.

You are looking for what is essentially a 3.5mm headphone jack input if this helps!

Not silly at all. Many of them don't.
Just look on the back, the panel that has coax in and out, also has three more circular blanks and a little one above the three for the IR cable.
If that has got a socket in it, then you surely have a STB controller. If it is still blank, you don't.
