I may be wrong but having front ALT equipped speakers with a non-ALT centre would be a concern to me (although I would be less worried about the rears).

Re: Beovision sound quality

Agree with Alex. Placement seems fairly important from my experience with them, but the 7.1 and 7.2 are amazing speakers.

The Avant produced a stunning sound, and still does, but the 7-1 is really a huge step up...

Re: Beovision sound quality

I was genuinely impressed with the sound that came from the all-in-one 7.1/7.2 speaker that ships as an option for the BV7. Decent all-round sound. However, since I swapped the 7.2 for a 7.4 and connected a couple of BL9s, it's a step up again. The BL7.4 is superb for replicating voice, for example.

The only snag is, with a forthcoming BV7-55, gawd knows how wide the 7.3 (?) speaker will be!

Beovision sound quality

What is the general view on relative sound quality between the various crt/ plasma/ lcd Beovisions?

I only have direct experience of the Avant 32 DVD and a recently acquired Beocenter 1. The Avant was originally purchased partly because of its amazing sound quality. The dealer even admitted that there wasn't a great deal to be gained by adding further speakers. The Beocenter 1, however, having smaller speakers and being of lighter construction is lacking in the bass area and could definitely do with additonal external speakers. Is this also true of most of the plasma/ lcd Beovisions? The views of those who have owned a range of these tvs or who have regularly demonstrated them in stores would be appreciated.
