Erm, my dealer won't fix sw issues themselves, at their cost, even under warranty. I had to get an official B&O engineer out to fix my BV7 sw issues!

Re: Beocenter 2 improvement

Indeed. Such glitches are certainly unacceptable for a $4,000 to $5,000 DVD player. As B&O doesn't send out such "recall" notices, it's absolutely worth asking your dealer what issues have been found and corrected with updates.

The "beo news" video clip to dealers last week addressed just this sort of problem with B&O needing to be more open about problems that have been discovered. Dealers were complaining that B&O was being very tight-lipped about acknowledging glitches and problems. This resulted in frustration and wasted resources. My situation is a perfect example. When I sent my BC2 to an authorized repair shop about a year and a half ago to have the chapter-repeat problem fixed. The repair technician was unaware that this was just a simple firmware update issue. Consequently, he replaced the entire drive assembly (under warranty). This did not resolve the problem and only cost B&O the cost and labor of that unnecessary repair.

Re: Beocenter 2 improvement

it just goes to show how important warrenties are!

This update would be covered under the warranty due to the problem of chapters skipping back and repeating. B&O is quite aware of this issue.

Re: Beocenter 2 improvement

Interesting - what was the approximate cost?

Beocenter 2 improvement

I recently had the firmware of my MKI BeoCenter 2 updated with the most current firmware. Early firmware versions were prone to DVD chapters skipping back and replaying. This is corrected with a firmware update. Another improvement is the picture quality! Connected to a Beosystem 1, the BC2 DVD playback had very jagged artifacts. The picture is MUCH better after the update. The update also removed the annoying "GO, GO" requirement whereby we had to press "GO" after every command for the command to be executed. I did notice that with the firmware update the BC2 now corresponds with the "BeoCenter MKII" on the PUC rather than the "BeoCenter MKI." That is, the blue button is now used for disk menu rather than the yellow button. The firmware update still did not enable divx playback, however.

It's so nice to now have single button commands on the remote.

I thought this information would be good for other BC2 owners to know.
