Is it a Bullseye for Kingof Snake??!?! Let's face it, just neeeded pointing in the right direction, if I hadn't have replied first am sure everyone else would have got it.

Amazing innit - Kingofsnakes got it straight away. I don't recall moving them recently but maybe wide's dusting did it - the switch was fully down in the line position!!! Thanks to all, and I hope all my problems are this easy to solve once again Many Thanks

I am humbled by the response and now know why I have joined Beoworld and should have joined years ago! All the advice is helpful and I will work through it after dinner. My wife called me away and hot dinners taste better than cold ones I have found. Fortunately I have a separate Overture system with Beolab 6000's too so I can mix and swap around to check things. Hello Rex, welcome to the forum!

What you need to do now is some organized troubleshooting.

have you checked the input switches on the speakers, perhaps the left one is now on "line" and just picks up some noise that keeps it turned on?
swap the speaker cables at the Beosound end, does the problem move?
swap the speaker cables at the speaker end (or swap the speakers themselves, if you have the cables built into something or otherwise difficult to relocate), what happens now?
finally, flick the input switches on both speakers to the "other" position, ie. L to R and R to L and see if anything changes

This should give us some insight whether the problem resides in the Beosound, the cables or the speakers. It might be just a damaged powerlink cable or connector.

It's a good idea to unplug all three units from mains while altering the connections.

This type of fault usually turns out to be a cable fault. Suggest you swap the speaker identification. ie Switch the left one to R and the right one to L

What happens now?

Usual suspect is that you have switched to LINE (all the way down) - RIGHT is middle position on the switch. This assumes you are just setting them up and that the fault hasn't happened out of the blue with the speakers previously working A OK.

Beolab 8000 power but no sound

I have Beolab 8000's connected to a Beosound 9000 system. When I turn off the Beosound the left hand column speaker stays "on" - green light, and when playing sounds no sound comes from the left speakers but right speakers deliver OK. Any ideas on if there is a simple solution?
